A/N: Hello darlings!! I'm here again with a new chapter. I hope yo won't be mad at me after reading it hehe. See you all in comments. Lots of love, A!!

ALEXIA'S POV

Today is Christmas Eve, and like every year since my father passed away, my sister, my mother, and I have dinner together at home. We used to gather with all of my father's family, but since he's no longer here, it lost its meaning, especially since most of them didn't treat us well. With those we still have a good relationship, we meet every Sunday, so there's no drama if we don't get together on a specific day.

After I finish breakfast, I get ready and head to my mother's house to help her with whatever she needs doing, and also to have lunch with her and my sister, who's already there. I take Nala with me because obviously, I can't leave her alone for that long, and besides, my sister also has a dog, so I don't think she'll get bored.

- I'm home- I say as I close the door.

- We're in the kitchen, darling- I hear my mother say.

I let go of Nala's lead and place it on the hall table, then take off my coat and bag and hang them on the coat rack right beside it.

- You look gorgeous, darling- is the first thing my mother says when she sees me walk into the kitchen- That blonde shade looks great on you.

I went to the hairdresser yesterday to trim the ends, and I decided to lighten my hair a bit as well. I don't know why I did it, honestly. It was an impulse, like when I dyed my hair pink.

- Thanks, Mum. What can I help you with?- I ask as I hug her from behind while she's cooking.

- Set the table, love, this is almost ready.

- Where's my sis?

- I sent her to buy some bread because she wouldn't stop fiddling with her phone, and she wasn't paying me any attention, constantly messaging someone. I think she might have a crush on someone.

I smile, imagining who my sister's crush might be, but my mother, who misses nothing, notices and starts interrogating me.

- You know something, cheeky- she says, turning off the stove.

- Me? What would I know?

- Alexia, you can't fool me. Come on, tell me...

Just then, I hear the front door open. Phew, saved by the bell.

- Hey, I'm back. Hi, sis- she says, greeting me with two kisses.

We have a rather calm lunch, catching up on our lives with our mum since it's been a while since we've had a mother-daughter chat. In the afternoon, after a little nap, my sister and I set about making dessert for tonight, while my mum finishes preparing the sopa de galets that we'll be having in just a few hours.

We've just finished tidying up the mess Alba and I made when suddenly, my phone rings. It's charging in the living room, so I dash out of the kitchen to answer it before it cuts off.

- Hello- I answer, not having checked the caller ID in my rush.

- Alexia?- asks a trembling voice that I recognise as Ada's as soon as I hear it.

- Hey, sweetie, are you alright? Has something happened?- I ask, concerned.

- I don't know what's wrong with Mummy- she says, on the verge of tears now- and Aunt Lorena isn't here, she's gone to her parents' house and...

- Hey, hey, slow down, calm down, nothing's going to happen. I'm here with you, okay? Where are you?

- At... at... at home- she says through sobs.
