ALEXIA'S POV

Today's training session was tough, but still not satisfied with how I performed, I stayed back to take a few more shots after the coach sent us to the showers. My mind is racing, and that has never happened to me before for a reason other than football. The girls head off to get changed, but I soon hear footsteps approaching me.

- Haven't you had enough?- Mapi says, grabbing one of the balls lying around.

- I'm not focused- I say, more to myself than for my friend to hear.

- I don't know what's going through your head, but I'm sure kicking a ball won't solve it. If it hasn't worked so far...

- I know- I interrupt- but I don't know what else to do.

- Come on, let's go- she says, draping an arm over my shoulders and guiding me towards the changing room- I've got a plan.

- You're scaring me...

- This weekend, there's a gig at one of the bars in town. Claudia, my friend, the tattoo artist, told me about it. Apparently, one of the band members is her mate, and she suggested we go. The three of us—Claudia, you, and me. We haven't been out in ages, and don't give me any excuses because for once, we've got the weekend off-  she says, seeing that I'm about to open my mouth to object.

- I'll think about it.

I'm not exactly sold on her plan, but I know if I say no, she'll keep pestering me until I give in. In the changing room, the rest of our teammates are chatting about what they'll do during their days off. Some will be travelling to visit their families, while others will be resting, as the last few weeks have been quite intense.

When I get home, the first thing I do is take Nala for a walk. Then I prepare some dinner and sit down to eat while watching a series. In the end, I text Mapi to find out where and when we're meeting tomorrow for the gig. I'm not too keen, but the defender is right about one thing—I need to clear my head. Normally, I'd do that by kicking a ball around, but since that's not working, I guess I'll have to try something new.

Saturday afternoon arrives quickly, and before I know it, I'm in my room, searching through my wardrobe for something to wear. I'm not sure what kind of vibe the band will have, so I go for something safe. Black leather trousers, a pink top, and white trainers so I don't have to suffer in uncomfortable shoes all night.

Since the bar where the gig is held isn't far from my place, we decide to walk. Mapi is staying over at mine so she doesn't have to drive later, and Claudia lives even closer to the venue, so it's not an issue.

Just before the agreed time, Mapi messages me saying she's already downstairs, so I grab my purse, check that I've got everything, and head out.

- Well, well...- she says, making me do a twirl- What an outfit! You look amazing. You're definitely pulling tonight.
