Autumn.
I stood before the mirror.
My hands gripping the cold edge of the sink.I inhaled deeply before looking up.
The lifeless reflection stared back at me.
I've known this familiar stranger all my life.
Those eyes which once sparkled looks dreadfully void with a depth unfathomable.
Those lips which beared a smile of the happiest have now forgotten how to curve up.
The face which was always shamed by everyone is now finally shaming itself.
I looked down at those arms which were so quick to embrace everyone in need are now full of scars.
I looked up in the mirror again.
A tear escaped my eye, betraying my attempt to keep up with the strong exterior I have mastered for years.
What have I done to myself? This is not who I am. I was happier, I was prettier, I was better.
I splashed water onto my face and wiped with my wet shaky hands.
The lights faintly flickering casting a dim greenish glow for the coloured walls of the room. With a continuous banging on the door, I looked back and sighed and gave a last glance at the mirror before walking out of the washroom.

There stood a tall pretty girl leaning against the wall, her lustrous and nourished hair cascaded down to her waist, she was staring down with her arms crossed across her chest. She was absolutely flawless. Her face quickly lit up as she noticed my figure. Beatrix, my childhood bestfriend, she's honestly the best person I've ever met. She's the kindest and the sweetest person ever! The bond we share with each other, I know for sure nobody can ever do us apart.
I felt ease at her presence, she marched towards me with a sweet smile on her face, “You literally took forever in there”, she rolled her eyes and hit my shoulder playfully.
I smiled faintly at her playfulness, “C'mon I was just in there for merely 5 minutes!”, I tried to sound annoyed but I knew I failed. I couldn't be annoyed at her. Never.
“Yeah! Exactly! That's a lot you idiot!”, she complained to which I couldn't help but roll my eyes and chuckle faintly, “Alright, whatever you say”.
I mentally sighed.
Only if she knew but she would never. I wouldn't let her honestly. Whatever I'm going through is on me. I'm never ready to show myself raw to others, I don't think anybody would ever understand. No matter how much one say that they do understand, they actually don't.
Beatrix poked my cheek bringing me back to earth again.
“You lost in the Lala land again?”, she said cheekily. I shook my head and smiled at her assuring that I was alright.
Beatrix's signature big grin appeared on her face, “I wish I had your ability to just wander around in my own world, zoning out everything else, would've helped a lot”, her light-hearted words brought a small grin on my face as well.
“It's rare, commoners like you don't possess it”, I jested.
Beatrix gasped dramatically as she took a step back, pretending to be offended. Her acting sucks I know but I am as good as she is.
“Commoner? I thought I was special to you, I'm offended”, She spoke before cracking up into chuckles.
I shrugged briefly and let out a small laugh, “Alright now Einstein, we gotta make it to the exhibition, I've heard many new artists have submitted their works. I wanna see mine as well”.
