Mitsuri opens the door to the common room, where the Hashira spend their free time on days they don't have missions. She smiles at the people in the room. They were playing some kind of card game. Gambling, no doubt, since Sanemi and Obanai had cared to join. "Hey, I've got a question for you guys," she says while sitting beside Tengen, who picked up three cards. "Has N/n ever told any one of you about her past? Like, I know it's a difficult topic for most of us, but we've all shared many personal things." Sanemi stopped as soon as Mitsuri asked her question. Tengen looked at her, his face holding a deep frown. "I haven't heard her say anything about her past," Obanai said, looking back at his cards. Sanemi laid down four before picking up one. Obanai groaned in annoyance. "Well, I've known her the longest and she has never talked about it," Kyojuro says. Mitsuri put a finger on her bottom lip. She hummed, suddenly in deep thought.

"What brought the idea up, Kanroji?" Shinobu asked. Mitsuri turned to her. "Well, last week she had slept over at my place. Remember? Kanao had joined us. Anyway, this had been before Kanao joined us, and while she was in the bathroom, I went to the kitchen to get us snacks. When I got back, she looked quite shaken up. Her arms were red because she had been scratching them, she looked like she was about to cry, you know? When I asked if she was alright, she told me she was perfectly fine and was just wondering where I had gone. It had me thinking. I don't know anything about her past. I think she has separation anxiety. But that normally is a packed deal along with abandonment issues."

"Wow," Shinobu says softly. "You really looked into it, didn't ya?" Tengen asked. Mitsuri gave a sheepish smile. "I had just sort of thought of it subconsciously." "Who's closest to her?" Shinobu asked. She had gotten pretty curious about this, seeing as everyone was close to the (chose your breathing style) pillar, and yet it was as if no one knew her. "I would assume that would also be me or Kanroji," Kyojuro said. Sanemi frowned. "As much as I hate saying this, I would agree with Rengoku. Except, she's got a weird relationship with Himejima." Mitsuri clicked her tongue. "I'm gonna get him," she said, getting up from her spot. Despite this just being a simple question, they were quite intrigued by this topic. Mitsuri successfully flagged Gyomei down and led him back to the group. "AWE COME ON!" Sanemi yells as the two enter the room. "SUCK IT!" Tengen yells back. Mitsuri sat down in her spot again, while Gyomei sat beside Shinobu.

"Alright, so here's the situation," Tengen starts. Then he went into the story Mitsuri had told them, and the ideas they had about circumstances beforehand. Just like every other regular day, by the time Tengen had finished talking, Gyomei was in tears. He spoke softly. "Yes...I am aware of L/n's past. But it is not my story to tell and she had asked for me not to tell anyone. It is also true that Y/n has become closer to me than most. She told me she felt safe and reassured when I was present." The room had become quiet, with the occasional sounds of the boys shuffling or picking up cards. "Well...I believe that there shouldn't be an issue with you sharing that information with us. In fact, it's comparable to us asking her, but it would be much less awkward." Mitsuri said. Her mouth twisted. "But I don't want to go against Y/n's wishes." Another few seconds of silence. "I guess I could just ask her. hmm, but would one of you join me in asking?" She put her hands on her cheeks. "I get so nervous asking about that." Gyomei rubs his hands together before speaking up. "L/n does not remember."

Sanemi stopped. Shinobu frowned. Tengens eyebrows narrowed. "What do you mean by she doesn't remember?" Shinobu asks. "In the time that L/n had told me about her past secrets, her anxiety had spiked extremely. She was very disoriented, she was having trouble expressing herself. As if her brain wasn't communicating with her brain to make full sentences. She had been crying significantly. She had also been shaking. In her state of panic, she said she trusted me, but nothing she would tell me could be shared with anyone else. When this came to my attention, she also let me know that she doesn't remember much of anything. She just pretends to remember." "Oh," Mitsuri said, "does that mean she doesn't remember the time I asked her to bake cookies with me for the others but when I reminded her she just agreed and said she had just got held back a bit?" Mitsuri's voice twisted with pity. Gyomei nodded before saying, "yes." This had changed a lot. And honestly, to the others, they understood. To be frank it just made sense. Y/n would ask "Oh? Was that today?" more often than not. Other times, she would actually admit that she didn't remember. However, she had told them she was very easygoing and just went with the flow. Maybe that was just to cover up her issue of remembering things.

"This is going to sound insane...but maybe if we do something to spike her nerves, she'll crack and tell us," Mitsuri says quietly. Shinobu's smile wavers. This was unlike Mitsuri. This is something Obanai would come up with just to see Y/n scared for once. The girl was calmer than a small puddle of water. But they understood the curiosity. Everyone could feel it as if it was a big stone statue in the middle of the room(no offense Gyomei). "I would...not prefer it." That was all Gyomei said. He rubbed his hands again.
The group debated this, going back in and forth about the issue. It was cruel, honestly, but a little scare wouldn't hurt anyone. Either way, it is still mean to scare someone so much that they remember their past. And no one WANTED to hurt Y/n. They decided against it in the end. They all loved her too much to do that. Well, maybe not Sanemi or Obanai. You know why. Boys will be bugs. After a while of silence, Tengen said, "Has Shinazugawa ever yelled at L/n?" The others were caught off guard at the sudden question. "Hah?" Sanemi growled.

Silence enveloped the room once more. Y/n didn't often get in fights with the boys. Or anyone in that case. Yeah, she would get mad sometimes, but she'd only do that to lecture them. She was smarter than to let herself show her anger and pain in front of them. "No, I don't think so," Shinobu says softly. "Hm...ok. Just curious." And Tengen shrugged it off. But everyone knew what he was thinking.
