I can't tell you guys how much I freaking LOVE this story. I made this in one night. It took me about 4 or 5 hours. But it was worth it in the end. It takes up 10 pages on my phone. I am so proud of it. I made it at the beginning of the year when I wasn't doing too well, so I kinda made it as a coping mechanism. Anyhow, I'm sure you guys will like this one, so enjoy it!!
"L/n, let us train together!" Rengoku's voice boomed across the room. His smile was as bright as the sun. Go figure. He was everything someone would ever want to be, or have. His personality was even brighter than his smile. It's as if God came down and blessed him as a child Himself. "No, leave me alone." Y/n's voice was bland and calm. She herself was darker than night. And her personality scared others away in less than 0.01 seconds. With that, people stayed away and she never told a soul about her past. Cause if she was dark, then her past was probably the definition of hellfire. But every day, Rengoku pushed her a little bit more. To socialize, to talk, to train with him. It was the same question every morning after breakfast.
"We both use flame breathing. So why not train together?" His daily question was annoying. Surprisingly, this didn't make Y/n mad. Just...annoyed. I guess that was the best explanation for it. But this wasn't really a new thing. Y/n didn't get mad easily, and neither did she smile often. Half the time, people would mistake y/n and Tomika for twins. Which made sense to some, and confused others. "I got the day off. I'm going into town." Her actions didn't show much emotion and neither did her voice, which was also why she and Tokito got along so well with each other. Both were quiet and swift. They both had a tragic past. They both enjoyed each other company even when they had nothing to say. Y/n treasured him like that brother she had once had. Just being in the same room with him made Y/n calmer for some reason. One time, Kanjiro had caught Y/n playing with his hair while he watched the clouds. They sat under a tree and Tokito put his head in her lap. She smiled at him and her heart swelled with love. He felt like her adoptive brother, sort of. If that made any sense."Good morning, L/n! Train with me, will you?" Rengoku was persistent. One time, she had said yes. That was the same day he had somehow managed to make her smile at lunch. "I like being alone." Whenever he would leave, her heart would be saddened, and getting out of bed felt like too much of a hassle. As if there was a rock tied to her bed and the other side of the chain was tied to her legs. Only a couple times had she had the strength and the courage to hug him before he left. Another time, Y/n asked to join him. The night before she had a mental breakdown. For an unknown reason, she felt the need to stay with him. He made her secure. She didn't know it, but she couldn't live without him.
<*~Flashback~*>
Y/n runs across the halls, making no noise from her steps. She slams Kocho's door open. As soon as she opened her mouth, the words left her. How to speak? What were words? Kocho stood up. "Is everything alright?" Her voice was sweet like honey and full of concern. Words?! "Where is Rengoku!?" The words had just blurted. Even Y/n was surprised by how loud she had been. Kocho smiled and giggled. She knew. She had always known. Even though Y/n didn't know herself. "He had a mission to attend to last minute. He hasn't gone yet so you can still catch him." "I'll take it. Thank you!"
And she was running again.
"Ren!" She slid to a stop. To him, she didn't look like herself. She looked...happier. More. Just, more. He smiled at her arrival. "What can I help you with?" "Can I come with you? Please?" Y/n was being louder than normal. Was she excited? "If you'd like. I think it would be splendid to be accompanied by you! And I am positive The Master would not mind a bit!"(He didn't.) His voice projected. She smiled. "Yes!" Realizing she was being too loud and the fact that she just gave the biggest smile she'd had since 11, Y/n took a step back and bowed. "Thank you for letting me go with you." He laughed and grabbed her hand. "You're doing great, keep pushing harder!"
<*~End of Flashback~*>
But it had become a thing to heal him and bandage his wounds when he came back. "Why do you help me, L/n? Every day, when I ask you to train with me, you say no." His voice was soft. This caught her off guard, causing her to halt. She stopped wrapping the cloth around his chest and looked at him. "I...I just like helping you. Because of all the kindness you've shown me. Unlike others, you tend to...stay." Her ears burned. She continued to wrap his chest wounds.
Silence filed into the air. "I'm sorry," Y/n was now extremely nervous, although she refused to let her face show it. What was she supposed to say after that? What was this warm feeling? How should she act? The questions never really ended. "Why?" He asked. "Yes. You may train with me when you get better." Rengoku's mouth turned upward and he laughed. "Don't laugh, idiot! You're gonna hurt yourself even more. Your ribs are bad enough as they are." She scolded him. "You are a wonderful person, Y/n! Keep up the good work!" Y/ns face flushed. "Shut up," she said calmly. Not mad. Annoyed.
