It was now the second day of school and while I was standing at my locker, someone tapped on my shoulder. I aasumed it was Wendy, so I turned around quickly with a smile on my face.
My eyes widened when I realized it was Austin Boyd.
And they widened even more when I saw he knew sign language.
"Hi, I'm Austin. I saw you at lunch yesterday and I thought you were kinda cute. What's your name?"
I was shocked at how straightforward he was.
"My name's Helena. I just transferred here from Pennsylvania. And I thought you were cute, too. Also, how do you know ASL?"
"It's nice to meet you, Helena. And my mom is deaf, so, I'm fluent in ASL."
"Oh, wow. Well, I must be getting to class now. See you later."
"See you later." Austin replied as I walked away.
I rushed to class to find Wendy and wrote this note to her:
"Omg, you won't believe what just happened. I was at my locker and Austin Boyd came up to me and started signing. He said he thought I was cute, and I told him the same. He also told me his mom is deaf which is how he learned ASL. I'm shocked."
Wendy's jaw dropped as she read the note. Then, she passed me this one:
"OMG!! See, I TOLD you he liked you! You guys are gonna be together sooner or later. :)"
"We'll see.."
