PATRICK ADEVECCA WAS retrieved from the excruciatingly hot basement, which did not have a single air-conditioning unit turned on. Before the six girls crowded into Juji's bedroom for the night, they had carried his limp body to one of the guest rooms.
Sundae conjured the Ocean Wave and played the Healing Cloud. With each note, white waves were released, illuminating Pat's pale face as the music worked its magic. The final note echoed, and he awoke with a start.
"L-Listen to me, you lot!" Pat's voice was strained and defensive as he sat up, rubbing his neck. "I swear I went to the basement to hide from those two intruders! I wasn't intruding; I was planning a surprise comeback!"
His eyes darted around the room, landing on Sundae—easily seen in her Sweet Seven outfit—then quickly averting, the memory of her ice-cold grip still fresh. He gulped down his nerves and glared at her. "Be glad I'm not dead."
