When Aster ran through Jaxtyn's idea for staying the nights, Elouise and Jean were overjoyed. Aster felt comfort in knowing that people accepted her and wanted her company. She did feel hesitant about not running it past the owner of the house and her employer, Master Alyx. Elouise said she would deliver the news, but not to worry because it would never be a problem and she was always welcome to stay the night.
During lunchtime, Elouise assured Aster that she would be around fairly soon to spend the afternoon together. She said that she had some more work to do before she was finished for the day. After lunch is served, Aster is technically done and by then she's on her route traveling back to Telarm. So, she didn't exactly know how she would choose to spend the rest of her afternoon and evening without Elouise. At Heronswood Castle. Jean was busy baking some special dessert for Aster's first sleepover, he called it. And Master Alyx was, well, Aster never knew where or what Master Alyx did with his day.
Aster took to the halls, scanning each of the rooms carefully. She hadn't got a chance to begin wandering around or physically cleaning up any of them yet. She had finally finished up her work with the garden so she would be moving to these rooms soon enough. She figured she might as well grow acquainted to them. She wandered around inside the Parlor room, then the Dining rooms, until finally she reached the Library.
When Aster first received the tour of the castle from Elouise, the door to the Library room was shut. Now, she was convinced Elouise was holding out on her. Aster couldn't believe her eyes. She had never seen a more serene and beautiful area than this.
The room seemed to glow with some faint lights and candles. On the ceiling, there was a large domed window that showcased an aquarium. Large fish and whale sharks swam by greeting Aster. The room itself was half library, half aquarium. Four, large corinthian columns seemed to act as arms holding up the shelves, connecting to the ceiling. If she wasn't distracted by the way the shadows from the fish reflected onto the floor and around the room, she would've noticed the loads and loads of books piling each shelf sooner.
It was the most outrageous, yet gorgeous sight she had ever laid her eyes on in her whole life. Her jaw was practically on the floor and then her body itself was, kneeling to the ground looking up at the fish. She laid fully on her back and tried to spot and name each fish that swam past the ceiling.
"I take it you've found the Library."
The voice came from the doorway, startling Aster as she sprung up from her position and stood facing the exit. She patted down her clothes and apron, straightening the fabric and fiddling with it. The voice was Master Alyx, lingering at the doorframe, his attention at the ceiling watching as a large tuna swam past the window.
"You keep surprising me," Aster said meeting his gaze, she felt her cheeks growing rosey again.
"Yes, people keep telling me I tend to lurk in the shadows," he shot her a cheeky smile, "It's one of my... undesirable faults. I apologize again, we don't want this glass to come crashing down. I don't think I'll be able to patch that one up," Master Alyx said.
