For some context behind this image. As mentioned before val is a bartender. He owns and lives in the bar pretty much just on his own. Club is one of the regulars at the bar so much so that he oftenly found himself staying overnight alot. Half the time because he ended up passing out. They became friends kinda quickly and eventually got into a relationship. Over time tho it dose kinda fall apart and they remain friends. They mainly only did because clubs mental health is pretty messed up so hed oftenly be quite sensitive and break down often especially if he sneaks down to the bar. They kept the relationship relatively secretive when they were.
This image however was when they were still in the relationship probably just after closing. Val has gills on his sides that are quite sensitive aswell and when touched makes him tense up. Its likely that club passed out soon after tho as tho he has a high tolerance once shit kicks it it's all sort of all at once.

Also the blood comeing from his gills on his neck is his sort of nose bleed as he dosen't really have one so dont worry he wasn't harmed or aneything
