Dahlia Emerson's pov
October 16

I wince, as I walk down the stairs, being careful to not hit my knee.

I let out a relieved sigh once I make it down the stairs, and immediately head towards the kitchen to find the first aid kit.

I pray to heaven above that my father isn't in the kitchen, and to my luck he isnt.

I open the cupboard, and see the red box with a white cross on it. I take it out, and open it searching for the roll of bandages.

I suck in a breath, as I realize that I forgot to buy more.

A whimper escapes my lips, tears clouding my eyes, as I try to control my breathing in order to not get a panic attack.

I can't go out while my knee, is a literal blood fountain.

I rub my chest, calming myself down, and trying to figure out what to do.

Once I calmed down, I decide to sanitize the wound first, and then wrap one of my old scarves around it.

After getting everything, I go into my bathroom, and position myself on the floor with my leg sticking out.

I put some of the rubbing alchohol on it, and put my hand on my mouth trying not to scream.

Suddenly the door opens, and my body freezes as I lock eyes with my dad.

"No, no, no, no, no. Dad please-" I back away, as he stares at me before scoffing.

"Be a woman, and go make me a goddamn sandwich." He says, staring at me up and down before leaving the bathroom.

My eyebrows furrow.

He's sober?

I quickly wrap the scarve around it, ignoring the pain, before standing up and hiding the rubbing alchohol.

Dad will drink anything with the word alchohol in it. So to prevent him from dying, I have to hide alot of things.

I limp out of the bathroom, heading downstairs to the kitchen.

When I get in the kitchen I see him, on one of the dining chairs smoking a cigarette.

He turns around at the sound of my slipping slapping against the floor, but I ignore his gaze as I start making his sandwich.

"What is your problem?" He asks, and I shake my head. "Nothing." I say quietly.

"Here you go." I smile, handing him a plate with the cheese and ham sandwich. He snatches it from my hand, without another word, and starts eating.

I stand in front of him in silence, not knowing if I'm allowed to leave or not.

"Can I go up to my room?" I ask, and he looks up at me a scowl on his lips.

"I want you down here by lunch." He glares at me, and I nod.

I quickly walk out of the kitchen, acting like I'm going upstairs, but instead turn to the living room so I can leave.

I can't let him know I'm leaving, since he always likes to assume that I'm out with boys, doing stuff I'm not supposed to be doing.

I wear my shoes, take my coat, and leave the house.

Zara spend the night at her friends house, so she's going to school with them today.

Once I get to school, I see Luna standing by the water fountain at the gate.

I walk towards her, and she squeals when she sees me.

"Hi Luna." I smile, hugging her, as she greets me back. We pull away from the hug, and her eyebrows furrow when she sees my busted lip.

"What happend to your lip?" She asks, and she looks down before gasping. "And your knee too? Girl what happend?"

"I fell off my bed." I say the first thing that comes to mind.

She sighs, putting her hands on her hips. "You have to be more careful Lia." She scolds, and I nod.

"I know. I will be."

"Let's get you a small ice pack for your lips, and then go to class." She says in finality, taking my hand and leading us towards the nurse's office.
__

I open the door to mugs and magic, and it's surprising quiet. There aren't any customers, and I don't see my co workers.

Normally it's very busy on Wednesdays.

I walk towards the back, and open the door, to see if anyone's there.

My eyeballs almost fall out of my sockets, as I immediately close the door again.

The manager Sheraya, is ontop of a guy bouncing on his lap, as he records her.

I stare at the wall for a couple seconds, still not processing what I just saw.

I turn on the tv, and leave it on the news channel, since I haven't watched any news in a while.

Beware, Ronan Grey, a famous serial killer is on the loose, lurking the streets of California. Make sure to lock any doors, and windows and stay in the safety of your house.

I sigh.

I don't know why I live in this neighborhood full, with guys in gangs, murderers, drugs dealers, rapists, and God knows what's else.

After working for two hours, and only serving two three customers, my shift ends, and I take all of my belongings getting ready to go home.

"Hi!" A soft, energetic voice says from infront of me.

I look up, and my eyebrows shut up in suprise, as I see Domenico, staring at me, with a brown haired little girl in his arms.

"Hi! What can I get you two?" I smile, at them both, as the girl smiles too.

She looks about ten years old.

"Can I please have a Strawberry smoothie." She says, and I nod putting it into the little screen at the register.

"And what about you?" I look over at Domenico, and his eyes flicker down to my lips, before meeting my eyes again.

"Black coffee." He says, and I also put that in.

"You guys can take a seat. Ill bring yours drinks shortly." I say, before Domenico starts walking away, with the girl hanging from his shoulders.

"You're very pretty!" She yells, and my cheeks heat up.

"Thank you." I let out a little laugh, as she pulls Domenico's head back, making him glare at her, as she laughs.
