"This is absurd! Uncanny! Outrageous! Of all the stunts I have had to shut down in my lecturing career, this is by far the most vile!" Vice Principal Kendrick rages as his short and chubby stature paces back and forth in front of us.

The Principal's office is an unnecessarily large room, lined with expensive glass bookshelves and walls with framed certificates, and awards. The marble flooring is pristine white and shined to perfection whilst the desk in the middle of the room sits on top of a Persian rug and is defined with a glass top and a black woven finish. This is the only room in the entire academy that doesn't scream Count Dracula. It's actually pretty modern-looking, but it's still too large for just a principal's office. Talk about money.

Principal Van Draal sits behind the desk as he watches Mr Kendricks go off at Neil, myself and Jace. We are standing side by side in that exact order with our backs to the closed oak wood door of the office, all smiles and joy wiped from our faces.

Without looking at Neil, I know he is more than upset. He hates getting in trouble. I want to slide my hand in his to comfort him but I know that would not go well. I sigh and look down at my feet.

"...I mean have you no shame!? " Mr Kendricks continues in an anger-filled rant, his pale bald head growing red as he shouts.

"Mr Kendricks perhaps if you would step out to grab yourself a coffee and some air. I can understand this situation is quite a stressful one." Principal Van Draal's deep and calm voice flows from behind Mr Kendricks. Mr Kendricks turns his attention to him with a sigh, slumping his tense shoulders and pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Yes, you're right. Perhaps I should. Apologies." He responds in a more equable voice, adjusting his black tie and smoothing down his grey suit. Moving towards us, he almost shoves us out of the way to exit through the door, shutting it behind him again. Trouble in paradise I'm sure.

"Please excuse Mr Kendricks. You can understand that as Vice principal, he has much on his shoulders." Principal Van Draal speaks calmly, resting his elbows on the table and lacing his long fingers as he gazes at us sternly.

This guy has always kind of scared the snot out of me. He is always way too calm and almost never smiles.

He sighs and stands up from his desk, straightening his back and flaunting his height. Rounding the desk to sit on the corner of it, I note his attire and general style. Every time I see him I am reminded of Reiji Namikawa from the anime Death Note, with his long black hair and pale skin, except Principle Van Draal compliments his appearance with sleek glasses. The human Dracula. Dracula doesn't wear glasses but for whatever reason Van Draal looks so much more like a Vampire with them on. In fact, I think it was after meeting him that I started my Vampire theory about the academy.
