~NEXT MORNING~
Aurora woke up reluctantly to the sound of her mother's voice, still clinging to the remnants of her dream.
"Aurora, it's time to get up!"
her mother called out, irritation seeping into her voice. But Aurora remained motionless, refusing to leave the comfort of her bed.
With a resigned sigh, her mother splashed some water on her face to wake her up completely."Uhhh... someone, help!" Aurora protested, half-jokingly."Enough with the dramatics," her mother scolded."Get up".Aurora finally conceded, slowly sitting up in her bed. "But Mom, it's Saturday. Can't I sleep in?" she muttered reluctantly. Her mother's expression hardened a gentle sternness in her tone. "Not today. We're going to the amusement park, remember?"
Aurora's eyes widened, realization dawning on her. She had completely forgotten about that. She hurriedly jumped out of bed and stumbled towards the bathroom, her mother's voice following her. "Hurry up! We're not leaving until you're ready." Aurora quickly hopped into the shower, the warm water rejuvenating her sleepy limbs. After a few minutes, she stepped out, her wet hair sticking to her shoulders. After drying off, she darted towards the kitchen, her stomach growling with hunger. Her mother was already there, serving up a plate of freshly made pancakes, drizzled with luscious maple syrup.
Her mother placed the plate in front of her. "Can I have more syrup, please?" she asked, her voice eager. Her mother chuckled and handed her the syrup bottle. "Don't drown your pancakes, sweetheart," she warned. But Aurora didn't pay any mind, generously pouring syrup over her pancakes until they were drowning in a pool of sweetness. She wasted no time digging into her breakfast, savouring the sweet and soft texture of the pancakes.
"Slow down," her mother reminded her. "You'll give yourself a stomach ache if you eat too fast." Aurora, her mouth still half full of pancakes, protested, "But Mom, they're so good! I can't help it!" After devouring her plate of pancakes, "Mom, I'm done," she announced, her excitement bubbling up. "Let's go now." Her mother, sensing her daughter's eagerness, couldn't help but smile. "Okay, let's go," she said, grabbing her coat. But just as they were about to leave, Aurora suddenly recalled something.
"Wait," she said, a hint of disappointment in her voice. "Where's Dad?" Her mother's expression shifted, filling with a hint of compassion. Before she could respond, Aurora, looking sad, spoke up again. "Busy again?" Her mother, unable to find a suitable answer, let out a heavy sigh before replying, "I'm sorry sweetheart, Dad will come with us next time. This time, it's Mommy's turn. Next week, we'll visit with Daddy. Okay?"
Aurora, her sadness slightly lifting, nodded reluctantly. "Okay," she replied softly. Her mother, not wanting her to remain too glum, tried to cheer her up. "Don't be sad, my princess. You'll have fun today. I promise." Aurora's mood lifted a bit as they both left the house. She got into the car, her mind still filled with mixed emotions. The whole car ride was silent, apart from the sound of passing cars and the low hum of the radio.
Aurora was lost in her thoughts, but her mother's voice soon broke the silence. "Sweetheart, look. We're here." Aurora's focus returned to the outside, and her eyes widened as she saw the vast expanse of the amusement park before them."Wow, Mom, it's so beautiful," she gasped, her eyes fixed on the park filled with rides. There were also some stalls nearby. Aurora spotted a balloon shop and eagerly requested, "Mom, can we buy a balloon for me?"
Her mother nodded and bought her a purple balloon. They both stepped out of the car and made their way toward the park, Aurora's excitement growing with each step. They entered the amusement park together, and immediately, Aurora's eyes lit up at the sight of the rides. "Mom, look at all the rides!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with awe. The park was vast, and it seemed to stretch endlessly before them. There were numerous rides, each of them more impressive and thrilling than the last. The laughter and screams of other visitors filled the air, adding to the joyous atmosphere. Aurora's eyes darted from one side to the other, her mind racing with excitement.
