3rd Person P.O.V:

It was a dark and stormy night, and Cat Noir sat perched on the Eifel Tower, looking out onto the city. Nobody was out that night due to the storm, but he saw in windows, people cuddled up around the fireplace, or eating dinner.

It was peaceful, but Cat Noir couldn't settle his racing thoughts. His father was... gone. Sure he was never the best parental figure but he was all he had left, and now there was no one.

It was a month after Ladybug's epic battle with Monarch, and things had been peaceful in the city, except for the occasional robber which was always dealt with quickly. His life, however, was a different story. Being left orphaned with his only blood relatives being Felix and his aunt, he stayed with them for a few weeks while the CPS decided what to do with him. Natalie ended up adopting him, and he lived with her in her small apartment. And school was now over because of summer, so he had nothing to do.

He was pulled out of his thoughts with a quiet snap. He turned his head, his cat ears erect, and saw Ladybug. "Sorry, did I interrupt?" She spoke quietly, she did that a lot recently. "No, I was just lost in thought." He muttered, looking back to the dark skyline. Lightning flashed, then thunder, and he flinched slightly, splattering water on himself, soaking him even further.

He looked at Ladybug again, seeing she now sat beside him. She turned to look at him as well, her gentle smile fading to a look of concern quickly. "Are you alright?" She asked gently, putting out her hand like she was going to put it on his shoulder, but thought better of it and put it back down.

"Civilian life." He spoke, not wanting to reveal what was harassing his mind. She nodded, looking out to the sky. It was quiet for a while till she finally broke the silence. "Don't cats hate water?" He snapped his head to hers, "What?" She giggled. "Sorry. Just, I've noticed that sometimes you have cat-like tendencies, and I assumed it would come the same way with water." His face flushed, though he was unsure why. "Yeah well I needed to get out, so I guess Plagg and I can suffer through the rain." He laughed, looking at his hands.

It was quiet again, while Cat Noir's thoughts raced, wondering if he should ask the question that had been bugging his mind for months. Screw it. "Who was it?" ... "What?" "Monarch." He saw a flash of horror on Ladybug's face and then it was gone. "I told you, I never found out his identity." He could hear the slight tremor in her voice, and the way her heart sped up. "I know you're lying." She looked at him, that same horror he saw earlier had returned.

He remembered when she first told him of Monarch's defeat, and how much of an emotional wreck she was. She had refused to tell him all that she saw, but he needed to know. "Look... Cat, it's not that I don't trust you, because I do, but... I can't tell you. I don't know who you are and how it will affect you, and I can't risk that." "So you think I can't handle it?" He wasn't sure why he snapped at her, and to be completely honest, he wasn't sure he WOULD be able to handle it. "No its just... I... I don't know." She brought her hands to her face and cried. It was odd to see Ladybug cry because she was always so strong and always knew what to do. But... when she didn't? It felt like he was seeing a part of her that he shouldn't see. Like he was getting a small glimpse at the girl behind the mask.

He tenderly wrapped his arms around her, not knowing what else to do. She buried her face in his chest as she cried, and he gently stroked her hair, saying soothing words. Once she calmed down, she removed herself from his arms and he could see how red her eyes were. "Sorry, I shouldn't have..." "No, it's alright. I'm sorry I pried." She shook her head. "Nono, you deserve to know. You fought him just as long as I did, if not harder."

She nervously twiddled her thumbs. "Well... You know how I said Gabriel Agreste sacrificed himself to stop Monarch? Well... that isn't entirely true." She swallowed nervously and he could feel a sense of dread slowly creeping up. "No..." "Well... That'sbecauseGabrielwasMonarchandhemademepromisenottotellanyoneespeciallyhissonsohewouldalwaysseehimasagoodguynotabadguy." She spoke so fast it was almost impossible for Cat Noir to understand, but he understood every. single. word.

He stared at her for a long time, the dread he was feeling came pouring in. She looked at him nervously, "Kitty...?" He forced a laugh, "Hah! That's super funny LB! But, you're... you're joking, right? ᵖˡᵉᵃˢᵉ ᵗᵉˡˡ ᵐᵉ ʸᵒᵘ'ʳᵉ ʲᵒᵏⁱⁿᵍ." His voice squeaked at the end, his eyes searching hers for any hint of humor but there was none. "I wish I was." She spoke barely above a whisper.

Suddenly, Cat Noir was very aware of the rain pouring down on his head, the lightning flashing in the sky, the roar of thunder in the distance, and the sinking feeling in his chest of being lied to. "No..." His voice cracked, looking down at his hands, it was all so overwhelming. He felt panic rising up in his chest like bile. His eyes filled with tears like a bucket being dunked in a well. And suddenly he couldn't breathe. It felt like he was being strangled. "No." His strangled voice escaped, and with it came the tears.

Nonononono NO! There was no WAY. His dad couldn't have been Monarch! Could he? I mean, he was very secretive and rarely left his office because of "work" so... for all he knew he could have been in some secret lair full of butterflies. He sobbed again, hiding his face in his hands. He couldn't cry in front of Ladybug! He was always the one who comforted her. Besides, he probably looked ridiculous to her, crying because he found out some fashion designer was Monarch; she didn't know his identity, she wouldn't understand.

But still, she wrapped her arms around him, pulling his hands from his eyes and pulling his head to her shoulder so she could hold him properly. Why did she care?  He cried until he couldn't find any more tears.  "How did you know him?" He could tell by her tone that she didn't care if it revealed who he was, so he decided not to care either.

"He was my dad."

...

She pulled him tighter, her face buried in his soaking mop of hair. She said nothing, but she didn't need to do. It was quiet again except for the gentle pounding of rain hitting metal, and their hearts beating. She murmured something, and there was a familiar flash of pink. "Adrien..." No way. He lifted his head to meet gentle yet piercing blue eyes. Marinette. Apparently, he DID have more tears, because they came flowing. She wrapped her arms around him again, more confidently this time, and pulled him closer.
