Ricky and Dawn were crammed under their parents' bed, trying to stay as quiet as possible. It was April Fool's Day, and they both knew what that meant—Dicky was on the loose, ready to prank them into oblivion.
—Okay, we need a plan to stop Dicky by pranking him back! —Ricky whispered urgently.
—What are we gonna do? —Dawn replied, wide-eyed—. He's so good as fuck! He wins every April Fool's! Remember his biggest prank two years ago?!
They both flashbacked to that fateful day two years ago, back when thirteen-year-old Nicky, Ricky, and Dawn were huddled in the living room, planning how to stop Dicky's reign of prank terror.
—We need to figure out a way to stop him! —Nicky whispered, nervously glancing around—. He's too good at pranks, and I'm seriously scared of what he's gonna do this time!
—Kids! Kids! The end of the world is coming! —Tom suddenly burst in, waving his arms dramatically, but they just stared at him skeptically.
—Really, Dad? —Dawn said, crossing her arms—. That doesn't even sound believable...
But then, the lights flickered out.
—Oh... how did the power suddenly go off? —Nicky asked, his voice shaking slightly.
A strong wind howled outside, rattling the windows.
—How is there heavy wind? It's not supposed to be windy today... —Ricky muttered, peeking outside.
The Harpers rushed to the window, seeing debris blowing through the air.
—What if it is the end of the world? —Nicky squeaked.
—Did I manifest that?! —Tom blurted, looking equally confused.
—Don't be ridiculous, Dad! —his daughter said firmly—. If it were the end of the world, there would be falling rocks, too!
As if on cue, rocks started falling from the sky, flickering with smoke and light as they hit the ground outside the house.
—Oh no, it is the end of the world! —Nicky yelped, now fully panicked—. Dad, how could you prank us about something so serious?!
—It wasn't supposed to actually happen! —Tom shouted, pacing the room.
Nicky and Tom began frantically running around, while Ricky stood in the center, eyes narrowing.
—This "end of the world" looks too real... way too real... —he murmured, thinking aloud.
—You're right —his sister agreed—. This must be Dicky's doing.
Tom, trying to investigate, opened the kitchen door, only to be doused by a bucket of water.
—Haha! April Fools, Dad! —Dicky called, emerging from behind the kitchen wall, grinning.
—Wait, if you're pranking with the water, then what's with the falling rocks?! —Dawn asked, pointing out the window at the scene unfolding outside.
—What falling rocks? —Dicky asked, unconcerned, glancing over.
His siblings pointed wildly at the window, where rocks were still crashing to the ground.
—Nice try, but you can't beat the king of pranks —Dicky said smugly.
—Wait... if you're not behind this, then that means... —Ricky's eyes widened.
—Ahhhh!!! It really is the end of the world!!! —Nicky screamed.
Chaos erupted as the entire family ran around the room in a panic, except for Dicky, who just stood there, laughing.
—Why are you laughing, Dicky?! —Nicky shouted, on the verge of tears—. This is serious!
—Because! —his brother said, crossing his arms confidently—. I told you, you can't beat the king of pranks!
—What?! —The family froze mid-panic.
—Haha! Caught you again! April Fools!
—H-how did you pull this off?! Dawn asked surprisingly, still processing.
—Well, I had a little help —he replied, grinning even wider.
At that moment, Dooley strolled downstairs, looking quite pleased with himself.
—Dooley?! —Nicky, Ricky, and Dawn chorused, stunned.
Dooley tipped his hat with a mischievous grin.
—I serve the king of pranks.
—How did you even get in here?! —Ricky demanded, still in disbelief.
—Easy —Dicky smirked—. I let him in before you guys even showed up.
The flashback faded, pulling Ricky and Dawn back to the present, still hiding under the bed.
—It was hilarious that Nicky always fell for Dicky's pranks! —Ricky whispered, grinning at the memory.
—I know, right? —Dawn whispered back—. But this year, Five's lucky he's not getting pranked!
Suddenly, a loud farting sound echoed through the room, followed by a horrible smell.
—Ew, Ricky! You’re so disgusting! —Dawn whispered fiercely, covering her nose.
—What?! —Ricky shot back—. You’re blaming me for something you did?!
—Now you’re blaming me for something you did?! —Dawn retorted, glaring.
Out of nowhere, Dicky's face popped up over the side of the bed, smirking.
—Gotcha! —he said, grinning wickedly.
—Ahhh!!! —Dawn and Ricky screamed in unison, startled.
—April Fools! —Dicky laughed, doubling over—. The farting effect and the stinky socks worked.
—Ew, Dicky —his sister said in disgust.
—How are you so good at this?! —Ricky groaned, still recovering from the shock.
—Oh man, I wish Nicky was here to get pranked! —Dicky said, still chuckling.
Just then, Tom entered the room with a serious expression.
—Kids! The end of the world is coming!
