leehan exited the towering gates of oscorp, his hand still pressed against the stinging bite on the back of his neck. a mix of confusion and irritation clouded his thoughts as he made his way toward the subway station. the bite throbbed, a strange sensation he couldn't shake off. however, he just decided he'd google some remedies when he got home or ask aunt jia about it. she always knew what to do.
the subway ride was long, and exhaustion quickly claimed him. leehan sprawled across three seats, his backpack serving as a makeshift pillow, and drifted off.
his left arm rested on his chest, while his other arm hung limply off the seat. the stench of alcohol and cigarettes filled the air as a group of drunken men boarded the train, laughing raucously. one of them, teetering with a half-full beer bottle, decided to play a joke. he balanced the bottle on leehan's head, chuckling as the cold droplets of condensation trickled down onto the boy's forehead.the cold sensation immediately jolted him awake. he sat up abruptly - throwing the bottle god knows where - his heart racing, and wiped his forehead.
"great! now i smell like beer!" the annoyed voice came from one of the men who had sat next to the teen. leehan quickly approached him, his hand reaching out apologetically.
"i'm so, so sorry, i—" leehan's words trailed off as his hand seemed to stick to the man's jacket. he pulled back, but his hand wouldn't budge. panic set in as he tugged harder, but the jacket clung to him as if glued.
"hey! get your hand off him already!" the drunken man from earlier shouted, his voice slurred with irritation.
"i'm trying! i swear!" the younger replied, still struggling to free his hand. the more he pulled, the more stuck he seemed to be.
the man's frustration boiled over. with a rough shove, he pushed leehan away, and the jacket tore off in his hand. both stared at the ripped fabric in stunned silence. meanwhile, leehan looked over to his other hand that was now stuck on the pole he held onto.
how did i do that?
but there was no time to dwell on it. the drunken man's anger erupted into a shout, "are you kidding me?!"
