"I'm sick and tired of you both!" Hyein yelled as she threw tiny rocks at the two before her. "You kissed her?! And called her a friend? You're worse than Minji!" Yelled Hyein in pure frustration.Danielle looked like a lost puppy and Hyein wished she could smack her but she won't. "Danielle, Haerin has always treated you differently from the rest of us." Did you ever realize that?" Asked Hyein and Danielle nodded.
"Gosh, you two are truly the stupidest people I've ever met." Said Hyein. "And Minji, you don't even care that Danielle kissed Haerin! What the hell!" Hyein was definitely going to go bald after this.
She was about to yell at them some more when her phone started to ring, and to her surprise, it was Hanni's mother. "Hello?" She answered a bit confused as to why Ms. Pham was calling her.
"H-Hyein, Hanni got into a horrible car accident and it turned out to be Haerin who was the other driver and they're both on the way to the hospital. They might not be able to make it." As soon as Ms. Pham spilled the news, Hyein let her phone fall from her loose grip.
Her eyes started to tear up as she looked at both Minji and Danielle, blame written all over those eyes. She let out an agonizing scream as she held her chest as her legs grew weak, making her fall to the ground as she sobbed in emotional pain.
Minji was quick to grab Hyein's phone to check who was on the call and Danielle went to Hyein to try and comfort her. "Ms. Pham?" Minji questioned but she was met with sobs coming from the woman on the other side of the phone. "Minji...St. Bernice Hospital, Hanni might not make it. Haerin crashed into her so bad, their lives are on the line."
Minji went over to Hyein and Danielle, shoving the phone to Danielle. "Hello?" And Ms Pham let out another sob. Danielle watched as Minji forcefully picked Hyein up in her arms and walked away—ran—to her car.
"Danielle, Haerin's not going to make it. The car crash was so bad, she lost a lot of blood and I'm here waiting for news. Follow Minji and come to the hospital. Haerin needs you here." And with that, Ms. Pham hung up.
Danielle was there frozen as her chest burned, she couldn't believe it. She stood up with shaky legs, turning to see Minji drive off, burning her wheels as she sped away.
Danielle ran to her car and got inside, hoping to make it in time. "Don't leave me, Haerin." She muttered to herself as she drove off, Minji long gone.
"This is all your fault." Hyein kept muttering in the back seat where she balled herself up, rubbing her arms as tears fell from her beautiful eyes. Minji could only try to keep herself sane to be able to make it to the hospital.
Once she arrived she parked and got out of the car, going to the back and pulling Hyein out who seemed to protest and yell at her. Minji didn't have time for Hyein's rambles of blame.
She dragged Hyein until they arrived at the waiting room where Ms. Pham stood next to her husband crying. Hyein pulled away from Minji forcefully. "I wouldn't even show my face if I were you," Hyein said angrily as she bumped her shoulder harshly and headed to the aching parents.
Minji sat down as she held her face. "Haerin!" It was Danielle as she rushed in, Haerin's parents opened their arms for her, in which Danielle ran to them and let them engulf her in a hug.
"Minji?" Ms. Pham sat next to Minji and brought her into a hug as Minji broke down in the woman's arms. "I'm so sorry." Minji kept repeating as she hugged the woman tightly. "Minji, things happen. You can't blame yourself for this." Ms. Pham said trying to reassure her.
"I messed up, Ms. Pham. I hurt Hanni." Minji said, and even though Ms. Pham was confused, she decided to hold Minji even tighter than before. Whatever had happened, must stay between the two. And they should fix it if god allows them to fix anything.
Meanwhile, Danielle was in a frantic state asking Haerin's parents about what condition Haerin was in. "Danielle, calm down. The last time we heard of her she was in the ER, she had lost a lot of blood and that we should wait for any news." Said Ms. Marsh as she held Danielle tightly in her arms.
And just like Minji did, Danielle started to blame herself immediately, Ms. Marsh looked at her with full worry not understanding what Danielle was talking about, but figured on not questioning for Danielle's sake.
Minji could only watch the scene before her, Danielle being held by the Kang's. And in the back of her mind, she could see Danielle being with Haerin, happier than they ever were. It was clear that the Kang family accepted her and wouldn't mind having Danielle as a future in-law.
And Minji feels like she robbed Haerin of that.
"Minji, she's going to be okay." Ms. Pham said, mostly trying to convince herself that Hanni would survive. And Ms. Pham could see in Minji's eyes that regret was all that she was feeling. "If you did something wrong to her, Minji. You know that Hanni would forgive you." Said Ms. Pham.
"Hanni after all always forgave you." She said and Minji broke down into another sob as she tried to believe Ms. Pham. But Hanni would never forgive her for this, she had crossed the line and Hanni would never want to see her again.
She'd also have to deal with the guilt if anything happened to Hanni.
Both Minji and Danielle turned to look at Hyein who was now sobbing as she held her face, sitting on the floor as her back was against the wall. She was the one hurting the most because, in her head, she failed them both.
Both Minji and Danielle went to her, sitting down next to her and hugging her. "I tried so hard..." Hyein started as she tried to wipe her tears away. "I tried so hard to protect them." She said as she looked at Minji. "I tried so hard for you to see the mistake you were making." She then turned to look at Danielle.
"And I tried so hard to lead you two to the right pair of arms but I failed so miserably. I failed them so badly, I messed up." And Hyein broke down into tears as she let the two women hug her and comfort her. Even though she wanted to strangle them.
All she wanted was for the two girls to be okay, she wouldn't forgive herself even if it wasn't her fault. She should've just let things work by themselves. She tried so hard to play Cupid that she didn't realize that it was the worst mistake she committed. She shouldn't have meddled with any of it.
Sometimes, it's not made to be, and that's something she had to learn in the worst way possible.
Look at her, crying her heart out as held her chest in pain. She wants the lord to take her on the spot because she would never be able to live with the guilt of being a reason for all of this.
Minji and Danielle had their minds occupied with the thoughts of the women fighting for their lives, that they almost didn't hear the nurse that was running and yelling.
"I need a blood transplant! They're losing blood! We're going to lose them!"
