IN LOVE WITH MY ENEMY

CHAPTER 7 FLOWERY HANDKERCHIEF

When Zayne got back from Leo's room after investigating him, he needed to clear his mind. There were no lectures today, so he packed his laptop into his bag and left his room. His parents were out already as usual so it was easy for him to go out without being questioned. When he was about to step out, Leo came downstairs with some fliers in his hand.

Zayne, your company is hiring?

Zayne turned to look at his brother and get a better idea of what he was saying.

He motioned Leo to come down with what he was holding. Leo skipped down like a kid from the stairs. When he reached zayne, he collected the fliers and went through them.

Oh my God, he almost forgot. The receptionist gave him the fliers after work last night to share it at school. The group wanted to hire more staffs especially young adults that wanted a part time job.

He put them in his bag, thanked Leo and left.

Did he just thank me? Leo asked himself looking confused. Ahhh, I wish I recorded that. He sighed and ordered the maids to prepare breakfast for him.

When Zayne got outside the gate, he boarded a cab instead of troubling his driver and he didn't feel like driving too. When he got in, he removed the fliers from his bag to take a look at it. He read the contents in it with great attention. While he was reading, his phone rang from his bag. He dropped the fliers on the seat, removed the phone to answer the call. It was his mom.

Why is she calling? He wondered.

He pressed the answer button and her voice was heard.

Good day mom, he greeted.

Zayne how are you? She asked.

Am okay, he replied.

I didn't see you this morning because I rushed out early. I called to apologize about yesterday. I know I was harsh on you. You know I care about you that is why I was scared that something might happen to you. I didn't even know you had a part time job. I was really confused, Zayne's mom rambled.

Zayne felt so great for the first time. His mom still cared about him. This was unbelievable.

Mom its fine. Am okay now.

Oh thank you Zayne. She thanked him profusely. After that, the call ended. Zayne already reached his destination when the call ended. He paid the fare and went down forgetting the fliers on the seat.

Ray put the handkerchief in his bag. He planned to return it when next he sees her. He came out from the school gate and saw his driver outside. He went directly to the car and got in. when he got into the car, the driver spoke.

Good afternoon young master. The chairman ordered me to take you directly to the cafe.

What? Café!!!! Why? Ray asked.

The café was one of the businesses the family was doing. When he heard that his father wanted him there, it means he wanted having lunch with him.

Lunch? He thought. He couldn't even sit down with his father on the same table feeling comfortable. His father had a very cold aura around him.

Okay, he agreed to go with him.

The driver turned the car to the direction of the café. It took him 15 minutes before her reached there.

When they finally arrived, ray got out from the car and went into the café. When he entered, he saw that it was empty. The waiter saw him and ran to welcome him.

Where is my father? He asked.

He is waiting upstairs, the waiter answered.

Ray went upstairs slowly with pounding chest. When he finally reached, he knocked the door slowly and opened it. He stepped in and greeted his father who was sitting with a serious face and a king-like posture.

Ray walked to the seat by his left side and sat there.

How is school and the broadcasting team going? His father asked while sipping his tea.

Ray sighed inside. His father was just concerned about the broadcasting team because he did everything possible to make him the head. He just wanted to know if he was handling it or embarrassing the family's name.

Everything is okay. A prestigious university is partnering with us, he replied with a stiff face.

His father nodded and looked at him.

You know you are going to take over me after you are done with school. I am getting old and I will retire soon. So get fast with everything and prepare to take over.

While his father was talking, ray's face changed. He was never interested in the company so how was he going to take over what he wasn't interested in?

Before he returned back to his senses, his father had left. He sighed again and drank the water. He stood up and left too.

When he got home, he met his mom in the sitting room watching a show. He didn't want to see her though so he tried passing her without being noticed.

But his mom was fast enough to see him. She stood up abruptly and rushed to him with a smiling face.

Ray, are you trying to avoid me? She asked pouting her lips. Ray only rolled his eyes and greeted her.

I heard your dad sent for you. Is there an issue?

I see that your news reporter was fast enough, he said with a small smile at the side of his left lip.

There are no issues and goodnight. He didn't wait for her to respond; he went into his room and shut the door.

He dropped his bag and removed his clothes then went into the bathroom to freshen up. Few minutes later, he was done bathing; he dressed up quickly and laid down.

He just stared at the ceiling with no thoughts in his mind. Then suddenly he remembered something, he stood up and searched his bag. He removed the flowery handkerchief and smiled.

He laid down again and smelled the kerchief. The scent was just so refreshing. He never smelled anything so soft and nice like this. He didn't even know when he fell asleep because it was a miracle.

He had problem sleeping; even though he slept, he will wake up after some minutes and will have difficulty in sleeping again. But tonight was different.

He slept like a baby and even woke up late.
