Brandon had always believed in second chances. When Maria returned after being gone for a month, full of apologies and promises to change, he decided to give her one more chance. The kids needed their mother, and deep down, he still wanted to believe in the woman he once loved. But it didn’t take long for Maria to prove him wrong again. She stayed for a few weeks, only to vanish once more, leaving no explanation, no note—nothing.

This time, Brandon had enough. He wasn’t going to let her come back and disrupt their lives over and over again. He made up his mind: he was filing for divorce and taking full custody of Ade and Maye. Maria wasn’t a responsible mother, and he couldn’t let her keep hurting their children.

[Scene: Lisa's home. Brandon walks in, his face set with determination. The kids are playing with their cousins in the living room. Lisa is folding laundry in the corner when she looks up, sensing that something has changed.]

Lisa: (looking at Brandon with concern) Brandon? What’s going on? You look like you’ve made a decision.

Brandon: (nodding, resolute) I have. Maria left again. I’m done, Lisa. I’m filing for divorce. I’m not going to let her keep doing this to me or the kids.

Lisa: (sighing with relief) I was hoping you’d say that. You’ve been more than patient, Brandon. She’s never going to change.

Brandon: (taking a deep breath) I know. And I’ve realized that for Ade and Maye’s sake, I can’t keep holding on to the hope that she’ll magically become the mother they deserve. They need stability, and I’m going to give it to them.

Lisa: (smiling supportively) You’re doing the right thing. You know you’re welcome to stay here as long as you need. The kids are already settled in, and they seem happy.

Brandon: (nodding) Thanks, Lisa. I think we’ll be here for a while. I need to focus on the divorce and make sure the kids are okay through all this.

[They hug, and for the first time in a long while, Brandon feels a sense of relief wash over him. He’s taking action, moving forward for the sake of his family.]

[A few days later, Brandon begins the process of filing for divorce. He keeps the kids busy and distracted, trying to shield them from the turmoil. Meanwhile, Maria learns of Brandon’s decision and feels a surge of anger. She can’t believe he would take such a drastic step. Out of spite, she decides to hit Brandon where it hurts the most: his business.]

[Scene: Brandon's small office. He is on the phone with a client when he notices multiple emails flooding in—cancellations, complaints, confusion. His heart sinks as he reads them, realizing that someone is sabotaging his reputation. His phone buzzes, and it’s one of his loyal clients calling.]

Client: (frustrated) Brandon, I don’t know what’s going on, but I’ve been hearing rumors that your company is going under. People are saying you’ve mismanaged funds. I thought you should know.

Brandon: (stunned) What? That’s not true at all! I’ve never mismanaged anything. Someone’s spreading lies.

Client: (sighing) I’ve known you for years, Brandon, and I trust you. But I’m afraid it’s not looking good. You should figure out who’s doing this.

[Brandon hangs up, a cold realization dawning on him. He knows exactly who would do something like this. He rushes back to Lisa’s house, his mind spinning with anger and disbelief.]

[Scene: Lisa's living room. Brandon storms in, his face flushed with frustration. Lisa looks up from the kitchen, startled by his sudden entrance.]

Lisa: (concerned) Brandon? What happened?

Brandon: (gritting his teeth) It’s Maria. She’s trying to destroy my business. She’s spreading lies, saying I’m mismanaging funds and that the company is falling apart. I can’t believe she’d stoop this low.

Lisa: (shaking her head, angry) She’s trying to punish you for divorcing her. She’s lost control, and this is her way of getting back at you.

Brandon: (nodding) I knew she’d be angry, but I didn’t think she’d try to ruin everything I’ve worked for. She knows how much this business means to me—how much I’ve put into it.

Lisa: (firmly) You need to fight back, Brandon. Get ahead of this. Talk to your clients, set the record straight. And don’t let her win.

Brandon: (taking a deep breath) You’re right. I won’t let her destroy everything I’ve built. I’ll do whatever it takes to protect my business and my kids.

[He looks at Ade and Maye, playing innocently in the living room, unaware of the chaos around them. Brandon's resolve hardens. Maria might have tried to destroy his business, but he wouldn’t let her tear apart the life he was trying to rebuild.]

[With a determined nod, Brandon heads back to his office. He has clients to call, emails to send, and a reputation to protect. He knows the road ahead will be tough, but he’s ready for the fight.]

Brandon was resolute in his determination to protect his business, but he quickly recognized that Maria was equally determined to destroy it out of spite for their impending divorce. Faced with mounting sabotage and reputational damage, he decided that the best course of action was to temporarily close his company. By stepping back from his business, Brandon aimed to prevent further damage while he navigated the fallout. In the interim, he applied for a managerial position to provide for his family and give the situation time to cool down, hoping that this strategic retreat would allow him to rebuild both his professional life and personal stability in the future.
