"Come here, dear child." He held my arms as he positioned me strategically.

He placed his hand on both of my shoulders lowering them and he moved my arms closer to my body.

"Now imagine the dark energy before you. Do not force it out." He said.

I closed my eyes and imagined the dark energy in my palms. I peeked my eye open and tried to look into my hand.

"Ah ah ah! No, keep your eyes closed or it shall now work!" He said sternly as he brought his hand quickly to my face to cover my eyes. I closed my eyes after and took a deep breath.

"Now, I want you to let the energy flow out of you. Remember you are the vessel." He lectured.

I took long deep breaths as I focused on every ounce of my energy into my palms and I felt the energy moving into my hands. My heart started to race and I felt the power from the energy.

"Good! Now open your eyes and try to use your energy on that hay bale!" I opened my eyes abruptly and winced slightly from the sun hitting my eyes and I tried to focus on the hay bale.

I gathered more dark energy in my palms and I released it and it shot at the hale bale. Me and my mentor watched in silence as the energy surrounded the hay bale and then it eerily disappeared.

Silence filled the forest as my eyes searched around and I listened for any signs of the hay bale. There was nothing.

"Oh, we have much work to do..." He sighed walking away with a hand to his head. The excitement started to grow inside me as I was finally able to use my power in a somewhat controllable way.

"I did it!" I shouted proudly. I haven't been able to control the effect my dark magic could have. This was a new one I made the hale bale disappear... but where did it go?

"Decimus! I did it!" I shouted after him. I ran to his side and looked at him excitedly.

"Sir Decimus, young child." He corrected. Rotten formalities, I couldn't care less about them.

"Deci, will you ever teach me how to fight with my wolf." I looked at him beggingly and with puppy dog eyes. His eyes grew dark and crinlkled in anger.

"You do not need to learn how to fight, harboring and using your energy is the strongest type of fighting you will ever need." He told me angrily.

I shied away from his angry face and my wolf whimpered in my head.

Nyx.

Why does he hate me so much?

Nyx said loudly in my head.

I don't know Nyx... He probably only believes in the power of mages. I told Nyx trying to comfort her.

Instead, I felt her step away from me and it went quiet. I sighed in my head and clenched my jaw as I was pulled back into reality.

"Why do you hate werewolves so much," I said quietly looking down because was scared to look into his eyes. He was walking away from me back into the wooden cabin until his steps stopped abruptly to my question.

"Werewolves do not belong in a mage's world." He said coldly over his shoulder.

As if my wolf couldn't have sunken farther into the darkest part of my soul I felt her hide even further away so I could barely feel her.

Sadness filled my heart and my once excitement was now filled with self-loathing. I followed shortly behind Decius with my head down sadly. I just wanted to impress him one time, but the one time I managed to do something right... it wasn't right.

I followed Decius back to his room as mine was just past his, but he stopped in the hallway staring angrily into his room. I stopped and observed for a second before I peeked my head in and saw a large messy hay bale sitting perfectly on top of his bed.

My eyes opened widely and my heart dropped as I realized what was on the bed. I quickly slid past him and ran into my own room as I headed to the hallway filled with angry muttering.

"Cursed child! .... Cursed hybrid child." He muttered angrily.

*End Flashback*

Decius always despise my wolf even from my young age. I had met him one night when I was traveling through the forest when I was 15.

He was me trying to create fire for warmth and to cook the food I just hunted. Every time I snapped my fingers to light the wood the spark would be sent flying somewhere random and explode on the tree or rock it hit.

I would wince with every failed spark, but I was determined.

"Why young one, why do you send dangerous explosive sparks into the forest?" He asked upsetly. Decius was traveling through the forest at the time.

I looked down when I saw a small trail of smoke coming from beneath him. I had managed to set his cloak on fire.

Stunned and I did not know what to say as I hadn't seen a person for months at the time. He scolded me and leaned over towards my firewood.

"If you want to light the fire, you need to focus on the firewood, not your hand. When you focus on your hand it sends the spark right back where it came from and makes it send off in a completely different location." He explained as he snapped his fingers and lit the fire in a second.

My eyes widened in awe and admiration. I watched as the fire started and crackled finally.

"Can you teach me?" I yelled out desperately turning to him he gave me a concerned look. He sighed as he stood back up. He looked down at me sternly.

"And what would you like to learn from Sir Decius?" He asked narrowing his eyes at me.

I thought of so many things that my mind went blank. I stared at him dumbfoundedly and shook my head at myself for not knowing what to say.

With a huff, he turned and started to take steps away.

"Wait stop!" I said rushing over to him.
"I want to learn everything," I said honestly. His narrowed eyes barely opened wider as he thought for a second.

Decius raised his hand and a wave of dust put out the freshly lit fire. My eyes faltered as I looked at him upset. Maybe I was not worthy of being taught.

Decius turned and continued to walk. His back turned to me.

"Come." He said and I ran behind him.
