The next morning as Phoebe wakes, she forgets where she is, expecting to wake up on her bare mattress, probably coming out of a k-hole. But as she sits up in the plush bed, she realises she's in the mansion. It hadn't all been a dream or some kind of drug-induced trip. She gets up and showers and then finds some plain clothes in the closet which she changes into. She psychs herself up in the mirror, ready to deal with whatever lies ahead of her. She makes her way down to the kitchen where she sees Logan at the table with a cup of coffee, flicking through a newspaper as he scans various articles. He had gotten up and followed his usual morning routine, pushing all of his thoughts aside. He looks up from the paper as she enters the kitchen.

She tries to ignore his presence as she pours herself a strong cup of coffee. It somehow seemed that fate would not allow them to keep away from each other. After a few minutes of silence, he decides to break it by remarking casually on the strength of her coffee, "Didn't get enough sleep?"

"No" she admits, taking the cup and sitting down at the table across from him, "strange place and all that"

He nods faintly in response, folding the newspaper as he does so. He continues to watch her for a minute, wondering why she had chosen to sit at the table with him. Truthfully, she didn't know what else to do. She doesn't know what happens today and is reliant on the others. He thinks about saying something smartass, but for a reason that evades him, he doesn't.

She drinks her coffee in silence, feeling him watching her. She almost thinks she prefers him pushing her buttons over the awkward silence that clouds the kitchen. Just before she can't bear the atmosphere anymore, Scott comes in, also in search of caffeine.

Logan looks up at Scott as he walks in, somewhat grateful that his presence breaks the tension in the room. Scott pours a cup of coffee and sits down at the head of the table, between Phoebe and Logan. He takes a sip, before he looks up at them, "Morning, hope you both slept well".

Logan replies in his usual sarcastic manner, "Yeah, great. Best sleep in years". Phoebe wants to roll her eyes, but instead, she ignores it. Instead she looks at Scott who had seen her so upset the night before. "Hey, Scott. I'm sorry about yesterday. I didn't mean to have an outburst like that", she says, wanting to make amends.

Scott looks back at her. It wasn't an unusual occurrence for new students. She shakes his head as he speaks, "Hey, it's okay. You don't need to apologize. Everyone's a bit on edge when they first come here". Logan watches as Scott attempts to reassure her, slightly rolling his eyes at Scott's kindness and understanding.  Once again, he feels that pang of guilt in his gut, remembering his actions from the night before. Scott continues, "Honestly, you're doing a lot better than some of the other people we've had come here in the past"

Once again, Logan makes a scoff of sarcasm, "Yeah, especially compared to Pyro. He set one of the training rooms on fire when he first got here" Phoebe observes, trying to gather if Logan is genuine or not. But Scott looks back at her, "God, Pyro's attitude was even worse than yours when he first showed up"

"I find that hard to believe" Phoebe mumbles, sipping her coffee. She doesn't know if that was dig or simply a statement. Both Scott and Logan hear her and can't help but hold back a faint laugh of amusement. "Trust me kid," Scott says, "Pyro was a pain the ass". Logan nods in agreement, still holding back a laugh. He looks over at Phoebe and speaks again, "You're a saint compared to him, and his ego"

Phoebe smiles slightly now at the welcome change in atmosphere. It doesn't go unnoticed by the men and they're happy to see it, even if it's small. Scott takes another sip from his coffee before turning to Phoebe once more, "So, Phoenix, I was thinking I could show you around the mansion today if you're up for it?"
