"Maybe she needed a shoulder to cry on."

HARIN'S POV

Blinking my eyes, I tried to adjust to the light streaming through the curtains. "Where am I?,"I thought, finding myself on an unfamiliar bed in a dimly lit room, my thoughts foggy and uncertain. The cold, grey walls seemed to close in around me. The room was suffocating me.

Just then, a knock at the door broke the silence. "May I enter, miss?," a maid asked, awaiting for my permission.

I hesitated but nodded. "Yes... you can come in."

The maid entered, followed by a man who had helped me escape earlier. The maid stood in corner as my questions tumbled out. "Who are you? And what am I doing here? Wasn't I in my home-"

But I stopped as memories of the previous hours flooded back. "Are my mom and Junho alive? I know they're-"

The man from earlier who stood silent in corner said,"The house...it's gone. The authorities declared...your family...dead, stating they found two burnt...bodies and they are safely placed in....an autopsy centre."

My body trembled, breathing shallow. I felt like I was suffocating under the weight of his words.

I shook my head, my voice a mere whisper. "No...no...that can't be..."

But his expression told the truth. My eyes welled up with tears, as my heart filled with pain and denial of the situation.

However the man's words sparked a glimmer of hope. " But wait...if they found only two bodies, wasn't there supposed to be three? Does that mean-"

" My father is alive," A low voice came out of my mouth unknowingly.

His eyebrows raised, his tone uncertain. "Is that so? But how?"

He waited for my response. His eyes narrowing slightly as he studied my expressions. My head hung low.

After a moment, he spoke up,"Oh, I.. I might be unfamiliar to you, I'm so sorry I didn't introduced myself earlier," I looked up gazing at him as if I knew who he was but couldn't remember.

He paused, his gazed still fixed on me,"I'm your Dad's best friend-"

Just then a man entered with a phone in his hands, interrupting the moment,"Sir you have an important call."

"Who's it?" He asked.

"He says he wants to speak with Kim Jaehwan," he passed him the phone, bowed and left from there.

My gaze drifted to him, and suddenly, memories flooded my mind. I remembered visiting his house as a child, playing in the backyard while my dad and him talked and laughed together. They were childhood best friends, and he was like an uncle to me.

He was 'KIM JAEHWAN', my favourite uncle.
My eyes widened.

END OF HARIN'S POV

Meanwhile Jaehwan took the phone.

"Can I know who's speaking?," he asked waiting for the caller's response.
