[ Zhang Hao's POV ]

It was the next day, and I was on my way to school, my mind still replaying the events from yesterday. I couldn’t shake the feeling of regret. Why had I agreed to Jieun’s ridiculous plan? Dating my best friend’s ex, it felt like a betrayal to Hanbin. And to make matters worse, Jieun and I were rivals. I didn’t even like her. I should have just said no, but it was too late now. As I approached the school gate, I noticed someone standing there, waiting. It was Jieun. She looked like she was waiting for someone. When she saw me, she immediately straightened up.

"Hey!" She greeted, waving at me. She was being oddly...nice.

I raised an eyebrow, suspicious. "You were waiting for me?" I asked, giving her a quick once-over.

"Yes, because I have something to tell you."

I sighed, now what does she have to talk about? I signaled her to continue.

“There are some rules that I forgot to tell you yesterday.”

I shook my head, "Of course, you forgot.." I mumbled, "Go on.."

"First, no falling in love." Jieun stated firmly, looking at me with those sharp eyes that seemed to see through my soul

I almost laughed. As if that would happen. "Why is that the number one rule?" I scoffed.

"I won't fall for you anyways, tsk."

“Because I don't want things to get complicated.” She replied, crossing her arms. “This is supposed to be simple.”

“Fine, What else?” I asked, deciding to play along.

“No getting jealous if we're with other people. We're both free to see whoever we want-”

“Hold on.” I interrupted, “are you serious? We both know that won't happen. I don't care who you see or whatever.”

She rolled her eyes, as if she’d expected that response. "Fair enough, For I just wanted to make it clear."

“Also no public displays of affection in front of our friends.” she continued, “I don't want them to get suspicious.”

I looked at her in disbelief, Was she for real? or what.. How did she even manage to rank 2nd?

I slightly smirked, “Are you dumb or what? Suspicious of what? Jieun, we're fake dating for fuck’s sake. If we don't display affection, no one is gonna believe that we're dating.”

She thought for a while before answering, “True.. fine then. Only in public, we're lovey dovey.” She said, “but, when we're alone, you better stay 100 meters away from me, okay?”

I rolled my eyes, “Girl, I don't even want to be near you. I'll disappear the moment I'm alone with you.”

Jieun narrowed her eyes at me,“I'm serious, Zhang Hao. The whole point is to make this believable without actually affecting our lives. If you get what I mean.”
