Love Train (Mossyclan and Juniperclan one~shots)

Deja Vu

(3rd Person PoV)

"Ack! My tail!"

Melodicflicker's squeak woke Lilytail up and she got up from her nest. She walked out of the medicine cat den to see Melodicflicker playing with Hailkit. The kit was squealing with excitement, her whiskers twitching as she attacked Melodicflicker's tail.

Melodicflicker gently pushed her off and she rolled back. Lilytail could hear Hailkit purring though and she could see her ears perking up and down. "Alright, alright. I get it, attacking tails are fun but try not to bite down too hard. You need to remember that your kit teeth are no longer small," Melodicflicker told her.

Hailkit merely tilted her head slightly. She could read lips just fine but Lilytail guesses it might have been Melodicflicker switch of mood. Yesterday was the gathering and Lilytail doesn't know why but Juniperclan tends to antagonize them any chance they get.

Snailstar has been bragging about her clan and even goes as far to threaten Speckledstar. She might still be smug about Mossyclan's failure to rescue the rest of the kits. Her tail curled up angrily as she thought of what Rockwing had said to Melodicflicker.

"Try not to let any kits die like the failure of Webtail."

It took both her and Lightpaw of Juniperclan to hold the angry tom back as he spat back, "Webtail was twice the cat than you'll ever be, you murderer!" He has been angry ever since and only she has been near him since the Gathering.

I guess kits softened him up, she thought as Melodicflicker was happily playing with Hailkit. Or he's bottling it up, she thought sadly. Still...Rockwing had no reason to rile him up like that and Lilytail feels bad for the rest of Juniperclan.

"Not cool, Rockwing. I'm sorry for what he said," Lightpaw bowed her head. Lilytail remembers assuring the medicine cat apprentice that it was alright which cheered her up and she went to explore with Snowpaw.

"Lilytail?" A new voice spoke up and she turned to her right to see Spiderkit standing next to her. "Oh Spiderkit. What can I do for you?" She purred. "I wanna play with you. Is that ok?" He asked and she nodded. "I'm not doing anything right now so we can play," she told him and his eyes shined with happiness.

"Ok! Let's play rogues vs warriors," Spiderkit cheered. "You sure love that game huh," Lilytail purred. "It's my favorite game but my sisters don't like it as much," Spiderkit admitted. "Everyone has their own preferences," Lilytail assured the kit.

So she and Spiderkit began to play. Lilytail was playing the rogue Lily and Spiderkit was playing the brave warrior Spidertail. She doesn't know why but she had a weird feeling about that specific name.

"Attack!" Spiderkit squealed as he jumped at Lilytail's side and she fell dramatically. "You've defeated me once again but I will get my revenge," Lilytail hissed, playfully. "I win! I win!" Spiderkit jumped up and down, happily and Lilytail got up and shook the dust off her fur.

"You sure did. Well I need to go and sort the herbs now," Lilytail told him. "Ooh! I wanna see. Can I? Can I?" Spiderkit asked and clung onto her. "Are you sure? Some kits find that kind of thing boring," Lilytail said. "Not me or Hailkit. Melodicflicker let us watch him sort herbs one time," Spiderkit explained.

"Did he now?" Lilytail asked and the kit nodded. She then pointed towards the medicine cat den with her tail. "Alright, you can come and watch but try not to mess anything up," she told him and Spiderkit muttered something under his breath but Lilytail didn't hear it.

They both went into the den and Lilytail began to sort herbs. She wrapped some of them up and placed them on the shelves. Spiderkit, true to his word, just sat there and watched with great interest.

Lilytail didn't notice at first but when she turned to grab a bundle of herbs, she saw that Spiderkit was sitting in the same spot where Webtail's nest was. For a moment, she thought she was Webtail again but a single blink replaced the black fur with the brown and yellow flecked fur. The kit tilted his head.

"Are you ok? You look like you've seen a ghost?" Spiderkit asked, seriously. His usual bubbly tone turned into a deadpan and monotone voice. Just like...

"I'm fine. Just...reminiscing on old times," Lilytail shook her head. "...thinking about him again?" Spiderkit asked. Both him and Hailkit had pestered her and Melodicflicker on telling them stories of the past so Melodicflicker told them the time that he and Webtail got lost trying to find feverfew and had to get rescued by Embereye, Oakclaw, Sadiesong and Fernflame. It was on the trip back home where they realized that feverfew was close to camp but not in the usual place of herbs.

"That was embarrassing," Melodicflicker laughed and Lilytail swiped the back of his ears. "I was worried sick for you furballs," she scolded him and the kits giggled.

Then Hailkit held one paw out, spread it apart, traced a circle around it with one claw (reminiscent of a spiderweb) and pointed to her tail before curling it up. 'Who's Webtail?' She asked and they both froze. Spiderkit was also curious and stared at them with his glowing green eyes.

"Webtail...was the third medicine cat," Lilytail said and Melodicflicker looked away. "Was? Where is he now?" Spiderkit asked, thinking that the name was familiar but he couldn't put his paw on it. "...he's in Starclan," Lilytail said and both kits gasped. Hailkit's fur puffed out and her eyes widened before curling her tail and tilting her head side to side. 'Oh no! What happened?' She asked.

"I don't want to talk about it," Melodicflicker said and rose to his paws, leaving Lilytail alone with the kits. Both Spiderkit and Hailkit lowered their ears down. "Did we do something wrong?" Spiderkit asked and Lilytail merely nuzzled the top of their heads. "No, it's just that explaining what happened still hurts. Maybe we'll tell you once you're older," she told them. "Ok," Spiderkit mewed and Hailkit nodded to show that she agreed with her brother.

"Lilytail?" Spiderkit's voice snapped her out of her thoughts. "Hmm? Oh just a little bit. His nest was over there where you're sitting right now," Lilytail explained, her voice a little strained. "Oh sorry, sorry! I didn't mean to make you sad!" Spiderkit jumped up and moved away from the area. "You're fine," Lilytail said.

"Really? You looked really deep in thought and sad. I didn't make you sad, did I? I hope not! Mom told me that making others sad makes you a meanie," Spiderkit said. "You didn't make me sad so don't worry about it," Lilytail told him. Spiderkit didn't seem convinced but he said nothing else.

"Umm...Lilytail, can I ask you something important?" Spiderkit asked, shuffling his paws around. "What is it?" Lilytail asked and Spiderkit muttered something under his breath. "Come on, Spidey. Hailkit told me that she was going to ask Melodicflicker and I need to ask Lilytail," he muttered. "What did you need to ask me for?" She asked and he flinched.

"W-well since our apprentice ceremony is nearby, I was wondering if...you know...if...CAN I BE YOUR APPRENTICE!?" Spiderkit blurted out a little too loudly. Lilytail blinked at him and asked, "you want to be a medicine cat?"

"Yes! I just hope it isn't too much trouble," Spiderkit lowered himself to the ground. Lilytail looked at him before twitching her whiskers with amusement. "Let me talk to Speckledstar about it, alright?" She said and Spiderkit looked up, happily.

"Alright!" He jumped up in the air, happily. Similarly outside, Hailkit was jumping up and down while Melodicflicker was sitting down with a small smile on his face.

He remembered what Webtail had told him about living the life that he couldn't. He hopes that in Starclan, Webtail would be proud of him by training Hailkit to the best of his ability.

Yeah I'm slightly sick but I'm getting better but I swear that my feverish brain came up with a bunch of plot lines for some of my fics. Weird how that happens but I don't recommend doing that, focus on getting better first.
