The night had cooled down significantly, and the beach was now bathed in the soft glow of the moon. Walker and I had walked back up to the shore, our laughter and conversation punctuated by the occasional crash of the waves. We sat down on a blanket we'd brought earlier, our bodies still warm from the water.
As I snuggled closer to Walker, I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of contentment. The way he looked at me, the way he held me, it all felt so right. I glanced over at him, catching him in the act of watching me with a soft smile on his face.
"What?" I asked, laughing softly.
Walker shook his head, his grin widening. "Just thinking about how perfect tonight has been."
I smiled back, feeling my cheeks heat up slightly. "It has been pretty amazing."
He leaned in a little closer, his eyes locking onto mine. "There's something I've been meaning to ask you."
I felt a flutter of nerves and excitement. "What's that?"
Walker took a deep breath, his smile turning more serious. "Y/N, I know we've only been hanging out for a while, but I can't help but feel like there's something special between us. I don't want to just be friends anymore. I want us to be more."
My heart skipped a beat. I knew where this was going, and I couldn't believe it was actually happening.
Walker reached for my hand, holding it gently. "Y/N, will you be my girlfriend?"
I stared at him, my mind racing with a thousand emotions. I had dreamed about this moment, and now that it was happening, I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed.
"Yes," I whispered, my voice barely audible. "I want that too."
Walker's face lit up with the most genuine smile I had ever seen. He pulled me into a tight embrace, his arms wrapping around me in a way that made me feel safe and loved. "I'm so glad," he murmured into my hair. "You have no idea how happy you make me."
I pulled back slightly to look at him, my eyes shining with tears of happiness. "You make me happy too, Walker."
He cupped my face gently, his thumb brushing away a stray tear. "I've wanted this for a long time. I just didn't know how to tell you."
I laughed softly, feeling the weight of the moment lift off my shoulders. "I'm glad you did."
Walker leaned in and kissed me, the gentle pressure of his lips against mine sending a shiver of happiness through my entire body. It was a sweet, tender kiss that spoke of everything we had shared and everything we hoped to share in the future.
When we finally pulled away, we both smiled, our foreheads resting together. "So," Walker said, his voice low and playful, "now that we're officially a couple, what do you want to do next?"
I chuckled, my heart still racing from the intensity of the moment. "I don't know. Maybe just enjoy being with you."
Walker grinned, his eyes sparkling with affection. "That sounds perfect."
We sat together on the blanket, holding hands and watching the stars twinkle above us. The night felt like a new beginning, full of possibilities and promises, and I couldn't wait to see where this new chapter in our lives would take us!
