After the intense battle against The Shocker and the events of Spider-Man: Homecoming (The First Tale), Peter Parker is looking forward to a break from his responsibilities as Spider-Man. The opportunity comes in the form of a school trip to Europe, where Peter hopes to relax and finally tell his classmate Liz Allan how he feels about her. The trip is meant to be a break from his dual life, but as fate would have it, trouble is never far behind.

As Peter and his classmates visit iconic cities like Venice, Prague, and London, strange elemental creatures begin to wreak havoc across Europe. These creatures—each representing a classical element of nature like water, fire, and earth—are incredibly powerful and seem to appear out of nowhere, causing widespread destruction.

During one of these attacks in Venice, Peter is caught off guard but manages to fend off the creature with the help of a mysterious new hero known as Mysterio. Mysterio, who introduces himself as Quentin Beck, claims to be from an alternate Earth where these Elementals destroyed his world. He tells Peter that he has followed them to this Earth to prevent the same catastrophe from happening again.

Nick Fury, who has been tracking these strange occurrences, contacts Peter and asks him to team up with Mysterio to stop the Elementals. Though initially reluctant, Peter agrees, hoping to finally prove himself as a hero on the global stage. Mysterio becomes a mentor figure to Peter, guiding him through battles and teaching him how to better control his powers.

As the two battle the Elementals across Europe, Peter begins to notice inconsistencies in Mysterio's story. Despite his growing doubts, Peter is drawn to the older hero, seeing in him a figure that understands the weight of responsibility that comes with being a superhero.

The truth unravels when Peter discovers that the Elementals are not real—they are holographic illusions created by Mysterio, who is not a hero from another world, but a disgruntled former Stark Industries employee. Quentin Beck is a master of special effects and illusion technology, bitter about being overlooked by Tony Stark. Using his technology and his team of loyal ex-Stark employees, he has crafted an elaborate scheme to become the world's greatest hero by creating and then "defeating" these fake threats.

Beck's real plan is to obtain E.D.I.T.H., the advanced AI system and defense network that Tony Stark left to Peter after his death. With E.D.I.T.H., Beck can control powerful weapons and further manipulate the world to see him as the ultimate savior. Peter, feeling betrayed and unworthy of the responsibility Stark left him, struggles to regain his confidence and stop Mysterio.

In a tense showdown in London, where Mysterio plans his final "heroic" battle, Peter must rely on his own instincts and intelligence, not the technology or mentorship he thought he needed. Using his web-slinging agility and quick thinking, Peter disrupts Mysterio's illusions and exposes the truth to the world.

In the end, Peter manages to reclaim control of E.D.I.T.H. and defeat Mysterio, who is fatally wounded in the process. However, Beck's final act is to create a deepfake video that frames Spider-Man for his death and reveals Peter Parker's secret identity to the world.

As Peter returns home, the weight of this revelation sinks in. No longer able to live a normal life, he must prepare for the consequences of being exposed as Spider-Man. The film ends on a cliffhanger, with Peter's life thrown into chaos as he realizes that his greatest challenge is yet to come.

In the post-credits scene, Nick Fury and Maria Hill are revealed to be Skrulls—Talos and Soren, who have been impersonating them on Earth while the real Fury is working on a mysterious project in space, setting up the next phase of Peter's journey.
