The next day wasn't very pretty. The press was gathered in front of the school entrance, with reporters holding unto their microphones and shuffling around like their lives depended in it, cameramen taking pictures of students. I focused, and felt myself fade out of being, then materialize inside of the school grounds.
I looked back to see, a reporter speaking as Mister Aizawa walked away from the press gathered outside.
"Alright! If you won't bring Almight out, I'll get him myself she was saying, advancing towards the gate. Suddenly, a dark wall stood between her and the school's inner premises.
"Well..." I said. "...that worked." Then I continued walking.
"Decent work on yesterday's combat training, you guys," Mister Aizawa congratulated us. Even though his voice was a bit devoid of enthusiasm. "I saw the video feeds and went over each of your teams' results. Bakugo. You're talented, so don't sulk like a child over your losses."
"Yeah, whatever," he responded, and I felt to putting a punch in his face.
"And Midoriya," Mister Aizawa said. "I see the only way the won the match was by messing up your arm again. Work harder. And don't give me excuse that you don't have control over your Quirk. That line's already getting old. You can't keep breaking your body while training here. But your Quirk will be really useful if you could get a handle on it." Izuku's mood lightened at that. "So show a little urgency, huh."
     "Right!" Izuku exclaimed.
"Let's get down to business," Mister Aizawa, said. "Our first task will decide your future." The rest of the class gasped, but I had a feeling that he wasn't gonna test us again, so I waited silently. "You all need to pick a class representative." Oh...
"Pick me, guys!" Kirishima exclaimed. "I wanna be class rep."
     "I'll take it," Kaminari said.
"Yeah, you're gonna need me," Jiro said.
"Someone with style for the..." Aoyama began, but Mina cut him off...
"I'm totally the right pick." In regular school, no one would want that post. It would just be extra work. But in the hero course, it would make it easier to be noticed by hero agencies, and prove you can lead a team like a real pro.
"Silence! Everyone! Please!" Iida called out. "The class representative's duty is to lead others. That's not something just anyone can do. You must first have the trust of every student in the classroom. Therefore, the most logical way to fill this position is democratically. We'll hold an election to choose our leader." Everyone stared at him so I voiced everyone's thoughts.
"Iida, we won't vote you," I said calmly. He turned to glare at me and I shifted a bit in my seat. It wasn't meant to be offensive, but I'd known for a while now that Iida disliked me. Why? I had no idea.
"Is this really the best idea?" Kaminari asked.
"We've only known each other a few days, how do we know who we can trust?" Tsu asked.
"Besides, everyone will just vote for themselves," Kirishima pointed out.
"So you'd do that?" I asked him. "Have some dignity."
"Most people will. But that mean that whoever does get multiple votes, must truly be the most suitable person for the job," Iida said. "It's the best way, right sir?" He looked at Mister Aizawa who was already stepping into the yellow sleeping bag he was in the first time I saw him.
"Do what you want? Just decide before my nap's over," he replied, closing his eyes.
"I don't wanna be a nominee," I said, before they began.
At the end of the election, Izuku got three votes, Momo got two votes.
"How'd I get three votes?!" Izuku exclaimed. Bakugo shot to his feet.
"Okay, idiots, who voted for him?!" Bakugo roared.
"What? Did you honestly think anyone was gonna vote for you?" Sero asked him.
"What did you just say?!" Bakugo demanded. Iida was shaking in his seat, probably suffering shock since he got zero votes.
"So you voted for someone else, huh?" Momo asked.
"But you knew it was best to vote for yourself, right? What're you tryna prove here, Iida?" Sato asked. In the end, Izuku and Momo stood before the class.
"Midoriya is your class rep, Yaoyorozu is your deputy," Mister Aizawa announced.
"Really? It's not a mistake?" Izuku whimpered.
     "How'd this happen?" Momo asked.
"This might not be so bad," Tsu said  from her seat.
"I can by with Midoriya, I guess," Kirishima said. "Yaoyorozu was totally on top of it when it came to our training results."
"Plus, she got in on recommendations," Kaminari said.
     "Recommendations?" I asked.
"Yeah, there are forty one of us in our set, twenty one in this class, twenty in Class 1-B," Sero asked. "Out of the forty one of us, four got in on recommendations, two from each arm. It means that they didn't write the entrance examinations, but we're recommended by a prestigious middle school, a respectable teacher, or top-tier hero, or some popular hero agency, or even more than one of those things." I could literally feel the envy rolling off Iida.
I joined Ochaco, Iida and Izuku for lunch.
"Uhhh, guys, I'm kinda worried about the class rep thing,"Izuku said looking at his food. "I don't think I'm qualified."
     "Sure you are," Uraraka said.
"You'll be great," Iida said. "Your courage and quick thinking under stress will help make you a worthy leader, not to mention the strength you've demonstrated. Those are the reasons I voted for you at least."
"Didn't you wanna be rep really badly?" Ochaco asked.
"Izuku, you can't know if you're suited for the post until you start working. Then you may realize you're not as good at it as everyone thought you'd be, or maybe, just maybe, you'll live up to all your hype," I said, shrugging. I looked up to see Iida glaring at me. He turned back to Ochaco.
"Wanting a job and being suited for it are quite different things," Iida said. "Observing the Iida family's hero agency has taught me that much."
     "Agency?!" Izuku and Ochaco chorused.
"Hold on, what does your family do?" Izuku asked.
     "It's nothing," he said quickly.
"You know, I've been wondering something about you," Uraraka said. "Admit it, Iida. You're filthy rich!"
"I was afraid people would treat me differently if they knew about my family," he added.
"That must be exactly why you mentioned their hero agency," I muttered, drawing a death stare from him once more. Okay. Now I understood why he seemed to dislike me.
"The Iidas have been pro heroes for generations," Iida said. "It seems to run in our blood."
     "What?!" Uraraka interjected.
     "That's awesome," Izuku nodded.
My foster father had been protecting our universe for centuries, you don't hear me bragging.
Well, maybe I shouldn't. He did fail and the universe was overthrown by Shuma-Gorath. But he was successful for a while.
"Are the two of you familiar with the Turbo Hero, Ingenium?" Iida asked. Two? I was sitting right here. I had to suppress my anger so I didn't set him on fire.
"I know all about him," Izuku said.
     "But do you?" I muttered.
"He's a super-popular pro with sixty five sidekicks working alongside him at his Tokyo agency," Deku said. "Don't tell me..."
"He's my elder brother," Iida said.
"So you didn't know all about him," I said.
"Ingenium is an unmatched commander who honours the hero code," Iida said. "As the second oldest Iida son, I strive to be just like him. However, I think it might a bit soon for me to be in a real leadership role." He looked at Izuku. "You, for example. You figured out what the judges were looking for in the practical exams. A rep needs that sort of insight."
"That's the first time I've seen you smile, Tenya, you should do it more," Ochaco said.
"What are you talking about?" Iida asked. "I smile all the time."
"If yelling at people sitting on desks counts as smiling then you smile a lot," I commented. He looked at me. Exactly what I wanted. So I could talk to him.
"Iida, do you and I have a pro-" I began, but was interrupted by an alarm. A voice came through the speakers...
"Warning! Level Three security breach! Please evacuate the building in an orderly fashion!"
"What's a Level Three security breach?" Iida asked.
"It means that someone's managed to get past the school's barrier, and that's never happened in my three years here," the boy to his right answered. "We should get going!" I would have told them that it was just the press, but I wanted to get Iida back for glaring at me indiscriminately. So I kicked back and relaxed, listening to the commotion outside the cafeteria. Eventually, the noise stopped and I looked at my watch. It wasn't time for the next class, so I stayed in the cafeteria eating my rice.
Once we were in class, Momo and Izuku were standing before the rest of the class.
"It's time, class rep," Momo said. "Let's begin."
"So we need to figure out who the class officers will be," Izuku said. "But first, there's something I want to say. I've thought a lot about this and I think that Tenya Iida should be the class rep! He was able to capture everyone's attention and get us in line." He was? I was too absorbed in my bowl of rice to go check out the reason the hallways went quiet. "So I believe that he should be the one leading our class from now on."
"Yeah, you know what?" Kirishima said. "If Midoriya vouches for him, I'm good. Plus he was a big help. He totally manned up and took charge, right?"
"This is a waste of time," Mister Aizawa said from his sleeping bag. "I don't care who the rep is, just hurry up."
Iida came up to the front of the class...
"If Midoriya is nominating me for this job, then I humbly accept. I pledge to carry out the duties if class rep to the best of my abilities," he said. I groaned audibly, distracting everyone so no one could applaud his speech. Once everyone's eyes on me, I spoke...
"Shouldn't Yaoyorozu be the class rep?" I asked. "She got two more votes than Iida." There were murmurs of agreement and Iida glared at me. I smiled at him, enjoying his rage. "That being said, she got only two votes. It was Iida who said that whoever got multiple votes is suitable for the job. Momo fills that requirement. As for Iida, not only did he not get multiple votes, he got zero votes." I could feel the mood shifting, everyone agreeing with me as I challenged Iida's new position. Iida looked scared now. Realizing what was happening. I focused, going into his head, and speaking in his mind...
     Don't mess with me.
"Just kidding!" I exclaimed. "I think he's great for the job! He did organize the whole student body earlier. Not only can he handle this class, but the whole student body, too. Perhaps if he showcased such competence before now, he wouldn't have gotten zero votes." I felt the mood lightening as Iida stared at me, in a mixture of disgust, anger, amusement, but to the highest degree, and most importantly, fear. He now knew. He now understood that I was more than just a powerful Quirk-user. I could turn a crowd against him if he crossed me.

"Today's training will be a little different," Mister Aizawa said. "You'll have three instructors. Me, Almight, and another faculty member will be keeping tabs on you."
"Sir! What kind of training is this?" Sero asked.
"Rescue," Mister Aizawa said. "You'll be dealing with natural disasters, shipwrecks, stuff like that."
"Disasters, huh?" Kaminari asked. "Sounds like we're in for a big workout."
     "Totally," Mina said.
     "Real hero work," Kirishima said.
"Finally, I'll get to show off how good I am in water," Tsu said. "Ribbit."
"I'm not finished yet," Mister Aizawa said. "What you wear in this exercise is up to you. I know you're excited about costumes, but keep in mind that you haven't gotten used to them yet and they might limit your abilities. This special training is at an off-campus facility, so we'll be taking a bus to get there. That's all, start getting ready."
We gathered outside and as usual, I stayed in my uniform.
Suddenly, the sound of a whistle bled into my brain. I looked in the direction it came from, to see Iida standing beside the bus.
"Gather round, Class 1-A!" he commanded. "Using your student numbers, form two neat lines with one person standing alone at the back, so we can load the bus efficiently."
     On the bus, Iida spoke.
"You guys ruined my boarding strategy," he said.
"Iida you really need to chill," Mina said.
"If we're pointing out the obvious, then there's something I wanna say," Tsu said. Then she faced Izuku. "About you, actually."
"Really?" he asked. "What is it, Asui?"
"I told you to call me Tsu," she replied.
     "Oh, yeah right," he said.
"That power of yours," she said. "Isn't it a lot like Almight's?"
"What?! Really?! You think so huh?!" he said, and I noticed him tense up a bit. Maybe it was the shock of being compared to his idol. I didn't know.  As far as I was concerned, it could've been anything, and Izuku may or may not have been willing to talk about it. "I never really thought about that. I guess it's kinda similar."
"Wait, hold on Tsu, you're forgetting Almight doesn't hurt himself," Kirishima said. I could sense Izuku holding back a sigh of relief. "Still, I bet it's cool to have a simple augmenting-type Quirk. You could do a lot of flashy stuff with it."
"My Hardening's super-strong and can destroy opponents in a fight, but it doesn't look all that impressive," Kirishima said, lifting his left arm. Suddenly his flesh strengthened before our very eyes till his hand looked like rock.
"Oh, no way," Izuku said, the pacifist in him coming to the surface. "I think it's really awesome-looking. You're definitely pro material with a Quirk like that."
"You really think so?" Kirishima asked. "I feel like it would be easier to become a popular hero if I had something flashier.
"My Navel Laser's got the perfect combination of panache and strength," Aoyama said.
"But it's way lame if it gives you a stomach ache," Mina said, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Well if any of our classmates have pro Quirks, it's Todoroki and Bakugo," Kirishima said.
What about me? I thought, but said nothing.
"Sure," Tsu said. "But Bakugo's always angry so he'll never be that popular." I saw Izuku flinch in his seat. Everytime I saw the two, I could tell Bakugo's oppression of the green-haired boy had been going on for years.
"Huh?!" Bakugo exclaimed. "What did you say?!" He shot to his feet, glaring at her. "I'll kick your ass."
     "You see?" she said.
"You know, we basically just met you, so it's kinda telling that we know your personality is flaming crap mixed garbage."
"You'll regret the day you applied to this school, you loser!" Bakugo yelled.
"Hey, hey! We're here," Mister Aizawa said. "Stop messing around." I looked out the window and discovered we were approaching a geodesic dome, which I automatically assumed was the rescue facility we'd be using.
Once we got down, we met a hero in a sort of spacesuit, waiting for us at the entrance...
"Hello, everyone, I've been waiting for you," she greeted.
"It's the Space Hero, Thirteen," Izuku said.
"Thirteen is one of my favorite heroes," Ochaco said, while I just stood there, clueless.
"I can't wait to show you what's inside," she announced. Upon stepping in, I had to admit that the place was nice. It was really spacious, and placed round the circumference of the facility, were several structures or specially designed zones. At first glance, I noticed a blood red dome, some mountains, a cluster of collapsed buildings...
     To name a few.
Then in the centre of the facility, was a fountain, which did seem random, but helped in making the place look good, nevertheless.
"It looks like some kind of amusement park," Kirishima said.
"A shipwreck, a landslide, a fire, a wind storm, et cetera," she explained. "This training facility was created to prepare you to deal with different kinds of disasters. I call it the Unforeseen Simulation Joint. But you can call it the U.S.J."
"Hey, shouldn't Almight be here already?" Mister Aizawa said, walking towards Thirteen. "Let me guess, he booked an interview instead."
Thirteen went close to Mister Aizawa and spoke quietly...
I noticed her hold up three fingers and confusion swept over me.
"That man is the height of irresponsibility," he said. "Clock's ticking, we should get started."
"Before we begin let me just say one thing. Well, maybe two things. Plus something, three. Four. Or five."
     "We understand," I interrupted...
"Listen carefully," Thirteen said. "I'm sure you're aware that I have a powerful Quirk. It's called Blackhole." She held up her fingers which had metal caps over their tips. "I can use it to suck up anything and turn it into dust."
"Yeah, you've used Blackhole to save people from all kinds of disasters before, haven't you?" Izuku asked.
"But my Quirk can also very easily be used to kill," Thirteen. "Some of you also have powers that can be dangerous." I remembered my fingers flickered with green, deadly flames. "In our superhuman society, all Quirks are certified and stringently regulated, so we often overlook how unsafe they can actually be. Please don't forget that if you lose focus or make the wrong move, your powers can be deadly. Even if you're tryna do something virtuous like rescue someone."
"Thanks to Aizawa's fitness test, you have a solid idea of your Quirk's potentials," he said. "And because of Almight's combat training, you likely experienced how dangerous your powers can be when used against other people. Carry those lessons over to this class. Today, you're going to learn how to use your Quirks to save people's lives. You won't be using your powers to attack enemies or one another. Only to help. After all, that's what being a hero is all about. Ensuring the safety of others. That's all I have to say. Thank you so much for listening." The students applauded and chattered.
"Right," Mister Aizawa said. "Now that that's over..."
He was interrupted by the sound of crackling electricity, as all the lights went out, and from the top of the stairs, we looked down at the fountain, and zones surrounding it. To my utmost surprise, a dark purple mist formed a vortex in front of the fountain, them exploded into a dark wall of violet fog, with yellow glowing eyes. Slowly, a boy with light blue hair came through the mist, followed by countless other people. He had artificial palms on several parts of his body. His arms, elbows and one over his face.
"Stay together and don't move," Mister Aizawa yelled. "Thirteen! Protect the students!" I'd never heard so much energy in his voice before.
"Has the training started already? I thought we were rescuing people," Kirishima said.
"Stay back!" Mister Aizawa yelled with so much force we all flinched. "This is real. Those are villains."
Real villains, I thought. How'd they know we were here? Were they willing to kill us?
