44. Trust in Question

"They found SoHa."

Jimin stays unfazed at the news that Yoongi broke to him, but the way his fists automatically grabbed his jacket sides was enough to explain the impact that news left on him.

"Is she okay?"

"Jimin... you didn't get what I -"

"No... I know the intensity and how that news might make you feel restless. I know you are stressed, but I truly want to know. How is she? Is she okay?"
Jimin's voice was filled with honest concern, and it made Yoongi feel so many things.

"No. She doesn't remember anything. They are saying she had faced an accident in the middle of transferring her to another hospital from that clinic she chose to admit to giving birth."

"Yoongi--"

"Yes. It's completely a mess now, Jimin. I was driving back and forth to Namwon station and Seoul multiple times for the past few days, trying to solve this mess. The case is directing to a whole separate direction now. The detectives have reopened the case, and now they are re-examined from scratch."

"Are they suspecting you? Is it turning to your side?"

"I don't know, Jimin-ah. That woman...SoHa's mother. I never remember she coming to at least see her daughter for the time being we are married. So Ha has told me how her mother and she used to have a very cold and complicated relationship since she was a child. Honestly, she was never supported by her mother even as a kid. So, I am so shocked to see her mother's involvement in this case. That woman has given a very bold statement saying that we never had the peace in our marriage and her daughter was forced to have kids against her will -"
Yoongi took a pause and continued again.

"Soha has gone through an unexpected labour. My kids are premature babies as they are born in their eighth month. SoHa's mother is trying to imply that the reason for her early labour was the pregnancy depression she was having while carrying them because of the pressure of our family life -"

"She had depression?"

"Yes. She had. Her medical history also clearly shows it, and our family doctor has also confirmed it's true at the inquiry. But - but that was a very strong accusion. Now, the whole case is directing to me. Her mother is asking for a reinvestigation, and she is asking for me to pay compensation for the damage I cause."

"Y-yoongi-ah"

"Last few weeks were eating my sanity,Jimin. I was totally devastated by everything going on. But I hired a legal team to work together with my family lawyer on this case. I am certain this is a trap. Her mother is setting all these things to frame me and---"

"Hyung---"
Jimin hushed voice make Yoongi stop his aggressive talk and look at him.

"Is she really okay? I mean---she had an accident soon after giving birth. It's traumatizing. Is she really not recalling anything? D-did you talk to her?"

"I did. The day I visited her...soon after I left the hospital, she had a panic attack."
Jimin's knuckles were now turning completely yellowish as he was squeezing his jacket way too tightly. However, he still managed to use his voice without breaking.

"Is it because anything you told her?"

"I--I couldn't control myself, Jimin-ah."
Yoongi explained how he lashed out her asking her about, whether she couldn't atleast recall about her job that she loved so much more than their own kids and how that question led her to have a panick attack.

"It's gonna be okay... Everything will be okay,"

Jimin scooted a little closer to Yoongi and set his head on his shoulder as he tangled their hands together. They were sitting outside to star gaze, and the night was sky was a starless grey mixed black one saying they could expect a huge downpour at any time tonight.
