The morning sun filtered through the ancient oak trees, casting dappled shadows across the cobblestone path that led to the royal cemetery. Miss Ally walked slowly, her steps measured and deliberate as she approached the ornate iron gates. The garden of tombs, where the air was heavy with the scent of fresh roses and myrtle, seemed to hold its breath in reverence.
Miss Ally's heart ached with each step, weighed down not just by the years that had passed but by the heavy burden of her grief. The loss of Queen Eun-mi was a wound that had never truly healed. Though she had aged gracefully, her once vibrant eyes now bore the weight of countless sorrows. Today was no exception.
The cemetery was quiet, save for the gentle rustling of leaves and the distant chirping of birds. Miss Ally made her way to the grave of Queen Eun-mi, where a simple, elegant tombstone stood—its surface engraved with the queen's name and a single, poignant line: "A beacon of light in dark times."
Miss Ally sank to her knees beside the grave, her fingers brushing the cold stone. Tears welled in her eyes as she began to speak, her voice soft and trembling.
"Dear Eun-mi," she began, her voice cracking under the weight of her emotion. "I come to you today with a heart full of anguish. Hyunjin... he's gone. They took him, and we don't know where he is."
She paused, the words catching in her throat as she struggled to hold back her sobs. Her hands trembled as she reached for a small bouquet of white lilies, placing them gently in front of the grave.
"I remember the day he was born," Miss Ally continued, her eyes closing as if to summon the memory. "You held him in your arms, and I could see in your eyes the same love and hope that we all felt. He was your light, your joy. Now, he's missing, and the darkness has returned."
Her mind wandered back to the days when Hyunjin was a child, his laughter echoing through the halls of the palace. She remembered the times Eun-mi had cradled him, whispering promises of a bright future that now seemed so distant.
"I fear for him," Miss Ally admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "The world is a dangerous place, and the longer he remains lost, the more my fears grow. But I must believe, Eun-mi. I must believe that he is out there somewhere and that he will find his way back to us."
She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. The wind carried the faintest whisper of the past, as if the cemetery itself was mourning with her. Her thoughts were interrupted by the soft crunch of footsteps approaching.
Turning, Miss Ally saw an elderly man, his face lined with age and sorrow. It was the palace's chief steward, a man who had been a loyal servant to both Eun-mi and Hyunjin. His presence here was both a comfort and a reminder of the deep ties that bound them all together.
"Miss Ally," he greeted, his voice gentle. "I was coming to pay my respects as well."
She nodded, her eyes meeting his with a mixture of sadness and gratitude. "Thank you. I needed to come here, to speak to Eun-mi. To try to make sense of it all."
