Hi once again HAHAHAHAHA. if you're wondering why I post another chapter/s. This and the previous post/publish should be post/publish as one. But I don't have time to finish it at once and now that I don't really feel sleepy so I think it's better to post/publish this one. I'll update once I gather lots of points, I only have 1 now 🙈.

690. An Unpeaceful Eve (4)
Translator: Guy Gone Bad

In the imperial adytum, like the folks should stay up on the New Year's Eve, both the emperor and the empress should also stay up on the New Year's Eve. According to the rules, the emperor must stay in the empress' place to welcome the New Year. After Yan Shengzhi, Chu Yunhan, Yan Xiaoming and the ninth princes who were temporarily raised in Fuqing palace had dinner, seeing Yan Shengzhi had no intention of leaving, Chu Yunhan also didn't ask him to leave. Instead, the two of them chatted casually there.

"Ahem..."

Today's Yan Xiaoming was a little strange. He didn't speak much since the day, and coughed from time to time at night. Sitting at the table, Chu Yunhan asked worriedly, "are you sick? How about I call an imperial physician to check on you?"

As soon as he said that, Yan Shengzhi also turned his eyes and saw an abnormal flush on Yan Xiaoming's face, accompanied by a burst of cough. He frowned slightly and beckoned Zhang Dezi, "go and call the imperial physicians over."

"Yes, Your Majesty."

"Wait!"

Zhang Dezi bowed and was about to leave, but was stopped by Yan Xiaoming. Everyone looked at him in confusion. Yan Xiaoming stood up and bowed, "thank you for your concern, father. I just have a fever and will be fine after a sleep. It's New Year's Eve. Let them have a good rest."

When he got up this morning, he found that he had a fever. He didn't take it seriously at that time. But later he began to cough at night, and he thought that he might have just caught a cold. Uncle Ling had given him a lot of pills. He would be fine after taking one later. There was no need to make a fuss.

"You kid..."

Before Yan Shengzhi could say anything, Chu Yunhan stood up and walked up to him. He reached out his hand and touched his forehead. The high temperature made him frown. "You are having a fever. Chunxiang, take him to have a rest. Remember to let him take the pills before going to bed."

"Yes, your highness. My prince, please come with me."

Chunxiang moved forward respectfully. Knowing that him staying outside would only make his father more worried, Yanb Xiaoming bowed to them and cupped his hands, "Then allow me to leave. Father, you are in poor health, so let the servants stay up for the Eve. Please go to sleep early, and you, dad."

Then, he left with Chunxiang. The ninth prince looked back and forth at them and then chased after them with worry.

"Father, dad, I'm going to check on him."

Watching his back, Chu Yunhan shook his head helplessly. Yan Shengzhi's eyes looked deep and serene. He had been so intimate with other princes before. It was obvious that Seven was more outstanding than any of his elder brothers. Even Nine was slowly getting rid of his dark side under the education of Yunhan. Now Seven should be able to shoulder that title, right?

"Yunhan, how much do you know about Ling Jingxuan? Does he really have no ambition like Nine?"

Gradually, an idea came to his mind. The only thing Yan Shengzhi was worried about was Nine. Seven was too close to them now. If he would listen to Nine's order in the future, then what was the difference between passing the throne to him and passing it to Nine? Although Nine had sworn in front of all civil and military officials that he would never touch the throne, there was another factor that was enough to influence his decision-making, and that was Ling Jingxuan. In just a few months, he had done too much for him. If Ling Jingxuan had that intention, maybe he'd really go back on his words. If so, he wouldn't keep Ling Jingxuan then.
