Starting in 1848, women have been fighting for their rights ever since then. Yet we are still not equal to men. In 1848, The Seneca Falls Woman's Rights Convention had marked the beginning of women fighting for their rights in the United States. That is 175 years ago from 2024. 175 years of constantly fighting to be equal to men, just for men to still be in charge of women's rights about their own bodies. The Seneca Falls Woman's Rights Convention took place on July 19 through the 20th, in 1848, In New York at the Wesleyan Chapel. It was started by a group of women. Those women including Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Lucretia Mott. About 300 people, including both men and women, attended this convention. The convention concerned the rights of women in society, religion, and politics. After the convention, women's rights had became annual events. Some other important time stamps in Feminists history is on January 23, 1849, the first women had graduated from medical school, whose name was Elizabeth Blackwell. She graded with the highest grades in her class. She was born in Bristol, England, and became a doctor in the United States. On October 16, 1916, Margaret Sanger had opened the first birth control clinic in the United States. It was located in Brooklyn. It was unfortunately deemed illegal, because there was a law forbidding birth control. The clinic was invaded on October 26, 1916. Just 10 days after she had opened it. She had to close two times because of legal threats. She eventually founded the American Birth Control League in 1921. I'm sure most of you have heard of Amelia Earhart, and if you haven't, she was the first women on May 20 through the 21st, 1932 to become the second pilot to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean non-stop. But she unfortunately ran out of fuel, and crashed into the ocean. They have yet to find her plane. On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus to a white man, which she had gotten arrested for. This also helped launch the civil rights movement. These examples are just a few of the feminists who have helped shape our world, Feminism doesn't mean hating men, it simply means the advocates of women's rights and equality. Not just women are feminists, men and everyone else can be too. It is the belief that women deserve freedom. But we can't have that if we don't continue to fight for our rights.
