"How is she doing?" Master Klea asked as he and Novi entered her office. Novi walked behind her desk and slumped into her leather chair.

She frowned as she answered, "Her wounds have healed fine but she's not waking up. There's no sedation meds in her system and the scans show plenty of brain activity. Jaysa's just taking a vacation? I don't know."

Klea paced the small office, the walls lined with an assortment of medical books, some he had given to Novi from his own collection. He smiled as he turned to her, "You'll find the answer, you always do. At least she didn't break the glass and try to rip our eyes out like the animals did, correct?"

Novi clicked her tongue, "I wouldn't exactly call this progress, especially when its the Keeper."

"I'm thinking Slaith may be at work here. Next to Rasha, he has the most power and his seeps through of course all the death that's toppled Firefall," Klea speculated as he continued his pacing. "Death takes all eventually."

"Even the Ethereals?" Novi questioned.

"Their power comes from their creations and they have many more than us," Klea replied.

"And they just keep creating," Novi argued under her breath.

Klea heard her and his face darkened as he approached the desk, "As you well know, the Void Field prevents that. There are billions of worlds out there that they have not been able to reach or see in eons. The Frayalax is one of the lucky ones."

"Say Jaysa finds these Astrals, what happens then? She used the one to fix her ship, which its bad ass by the way. How many are there? How many pieces did Eshra become?" Novi leaned forward, clasping her four hands together on the desk. She began reading a report with her right eyes and watching Master Klea with her left ones.

"They call to Jaysa alone. There is something you must know as you will be traveling with her once she is awake. No one else is to hear of this. Understand?" Klea stared down at her. Novi focused all her eyes on him and nodded solemnly.

"She is Eshra's daughter," Klea whispered but his words reeled Novi's brain into chaos. Jaysa was a demigod?

Novi opened her mouth to speak but Klea cut her off with a raised hand, "Only Rasha, Slaith myself, and you know. Previous masters also knew the secret as we were tasked with looking for Eshra's daughter. Her Ethereal name is Lumin. Eshra broke one of their most sacred rules and laid with a mortal man. When it came time to sacrifice herself, Eshra made Rasha promise to get Jaysa to safety before the creation of the Void Field. He and Slaith worked together, binding their powers and sent Jaysa into the world as an egg in the womb of a woman."

"Why can't Jaysa know?" Novi asked, her voice a low croak. "She should know. None of this makes sense. Jaysa is in her twenties!" her voice rose a few octaves and Novi noticed she was now standing.

"You think Eshra just died and the Void Field was a giant boom, as you have been taught," Klea closed his eyes, "Eshra fought for many years on a single attack, resisting the Wraiths onslaught. She is love and purity after all. Their powers manifested into a massive storm, each side trying to push the other back. Eshra did this for years. She had help from the other Ethereals of course but Eshra held the frontline. The Wraiths pushed through over time and Eshra knew the battle was lost as their power began to encompass her own, ingesting it and throwing it back tenfold. Rasha and Slaith's spell almost destroyed them as well. They were broken shells for a time. Jaysa traveled through at the head of the Void Field, out just in time. Eshra died, starting the creation of the Void Field, it expanded over time, encompassing each galaxy in its own pocket. Jaysa's journey took years. She is an old soul in a new body."
