The lunch bell rang, and me and Suri found a spot in the bustling cafeteria. As they chatted, the girl from earlier walked by, looking at me before sitting at the far end of their table.
"So, tell me about the girl you bumped into earlier," Suri said, her curiosity piqued.
I glanced over and noticed the girl was within earshot. "Nevermind," Suri quickly added. "But who's in your classes?"
"I don't really know for real. The teachers want us to do those 'about me' things, and nobody wants to do it," Melanie replied, catching the girl looking at her again before quickly looking away.
Their conversation continued, and Melanie asked, "You wanna go to the school store?"
"Yeah, let me throw this away first," Suri said, getting up. The girl's friend also got up, and Melanie found herself locking eyes with the girl.
"I'm really sorry for bumping into you earlier. I didn't mean to," the girl said, her voice sincere.
"It's alright. I should've been watching where I was going," Melanie replied, pulling out her phone.
"What's your name, by the way? I never got it," the girl asked.
"It's Melanie. What's yours?" Melanie responded.
"Your name is really cute. Mine's Ivori," the girl said with a smile.
"Nice to meet you, Ivori," Melanie said, just as Suri returned. They headed to the school store together and finished the rest of their classes before finally heading to the buses and making their way home.
