"What the actual fuck Ray?" Natasha seethes as she tugs on the handcuffs that are currently securing her to a radiator.
After I'd flashed us from the Hydra base and to Yelena's apartment that still didn't have Yelena in it, I'd debated on what to do. Natasha wasn't known for her forgiving nature but rather for her punch first and ask questions later nature.
Hence the handcuffs and the radiator.
"Let me go!" She demands.
"If I do are you going to hit me?" I ask warily as I sit on the toilet just out of her reach. "Or are you going to listen to what I have to say?"
"I'm going to kick your ass and then haul it back home!"
"This is home," I tell her. "At least for now."
"And just where are we?" She looks up to the small window that's set close to the ceiling, "there's no light coming in and I doubt you'd be dumb enough to have neighbors so I'm guessing this is a house and that it's night time. So where are we? India? Iceland?"
"New Jersey," I inform her. "You've been unconscious for a while. Sorry."
"We are in Jersey?" She asks incredulously. "Why?"
"Because Natasha!" I half yell, my frustration boiling over. "You saw something that you weren't supposed to see. And you being you, couldn't just let it go so now here we are waiting for Yelena so that we can figure out a new plan!"
For the first time since she woke up, Natasha is silent.
At least for a second.
"What do you mean you're waiting for Yelena?" She asks, her voice deadly. "You told me that you didn't know where she was."
"I lied. I've know for a year where she is," I tell her. "I've been sneaking out to meet her, to plan how to find Dreykov. That's where she's at now, doing recon." I don't mention that she's been gone for too long or that she hasn't contacted me in nearly a week.
"How could you keep that from me?"
"She asked me too. She didn't want you involved in this until it was absolutely necessary," I say. "We weren't supposed to be here for at least another month. But then you found me out and well... here we are."
"In a house in Jersey waiting for my sister," she deadpans. "What is so important that you'd keep her from me?"
I shake my head, "I'm not keeping her from you, Nat. She asked me not to tell you. Neither of us wanted you involved in this unless it was absolutely necessary." I rub my head, trying to keep the headache from this circular conversation at bay. "But again, you saw something you shouldn't have, so again, here we are. And I swear to god if we keep going in circles, I'm going to drop you in the arctic."
"It's the midnight sun right now, so you can't," she retorts. "Besides, if you think I'm letting you take me anywhere without my sister then you're mistaken."
Ray! Extraction please!
"Speaking of Yelena," I mutter. "I'll be right back."
"Ray don't you dare-," she yells as I flash to Yelena who is.. in a desert in the middle of a firefight. Grabbing her, I flash us back to the apartment just in time to hear Natasha yell, "leave me here!"
Yelena and I both fall to the floor in a tangle of limbs, "suka," Yelena groans.
"Yeah fuck you too," I grit out. "Get your ass out of my face."
"I thought you liked my ass," she jokes as we get untangled. She sits on the toilet as I lean against the bathtub, "besides, I have a very nice ass so you should feel blessed to have seen it up close."
"Not when it gets blood all over me," I tell her. "Did you get shot in the ass?"
Yelena pauses and looks at her ass the best she can, "no that is not my blood."
"Great, so you got someone else's blood on me." I give her a stern look, "why did you wait so long to call me?"
"Did you miss the part where I was in the middle of nowhere with no shadow cover?" She retorts. "I called you as soon as night fell. Your powers are pretty useless in the daytime, you know."
"Why were you there anyway? I thought you were going to Sokovia not the Sahara?" I ask as I grab a towel that was draped over the tub and toss it to her.
"Change of plans," she shrugs. "I got new intel at the last minute and had to make an executive decision."
"You should have told me."
"What are you, my mom?"
"No, I'm your backup!"
"I was handling it fine!"
"You almost got shot!"
"Almost! Besides-."
"Excuse me!" Natasha yells.
Yelena looks over at her, "hello Natasha." She looks back at me, "besides they were Dreykov's men so it was no... Natasha?" She asks as she finally truly notices that her sister was in the room. "Why are you chained to the radiator?"
Natasha pulls the handcuffs loudly, "ask her."
Yelena looks at me questioningly, "why is she handcuffed?"
"So she doesn't hit me," I admit.
"Fair," she nods. "But why is she here? We agreed not to tell her until it was time."
"Yeah, well that time came sooner than expected," I answer as I pull the flash drive from my pocket. "She saw me take this and then pulled a gun on me."
"Is he on there?" Yelena asks excitedly before glancing at Natasha with a guarded expression. Her voice floats in my head, is she on there? Katia?
"I don't know," I tell her out loud. "I haven't had a chance to look."
Yelena stands quickly, "then let's go. My contact said that whatever Dreykov is planning, it's coming to a close. He's stopped buying children and is talking about selling a new weapon. If she's one of the ones he's selling, we may never find her if we don't move now."
"He won't," I tell her as I stand up. "He wants me to come after her, and he's going to get his wish."
"Who are you talking about?" Natasha asks as she struggles to stand.
"Jesus!" I exclaim. "I forgot you were here for a second."
Should we tell her now? Yelena asks.
Do you think she'll hit me if we do?
I think she's going to hit you no matter what. Might as well get it over with, Yelena chuckles.
"Hello? Earth to the weird sisters!" Natasha interrupts. "Why are you looking at each other like that? And who the hell are you looking for? And don't tell me it's just Dreykov because unless he got a sex change, last I knew he wasn't a girl." She looks down at her hands and mutters, "fuck this." Cracking her thumbs out of place, she slips the cuffs off and pops her thumbs back in, "now, someone better start talking."
Yelena and I exchange a look, "you were letting me keep you chained, weren't you?"
"Yeah Ray," she says as she takes a step towards me. "Now explain. Who is this 'she' you're talking about? Why does Dreykov think you'll come after her?"
"Because," I sigh. "She's my daughter."
