AUTHOR'S POV
As everyone gathered around the dining table for breakfast, Saira and Aliza moved around, serving the food to everyone.
And after serving everyone Aliza took her seat next to Ayaaz's mother, while Saira was about to sit beside Aliza when Ayaaz called out, "Arre, why are you sitting there? Sit beside your husband."
Aariz rolled his eyes in response but kept his silence, continuing to eat as Saira moved to sit beside him.
Nisha, Ayaaz's mother, took a moment to savor her food and complimented, "The food is absolutely delicious."
"Thank you, Aunty," Aariz said, smiling modestly.
Nisha looked puzzled and asked, "Did you make this?"
Aariz nodded. "Yes, Aunty, I did."
Nisha's curiosity was piqued, "but it was saira's first rasoi right?"
Saira, feeling a bit nervous, spoke up, "I prepared the kheer, Aunty."
Nisha raised an eyebrow. "But-"
Before she could speak further, Ayaaz interjected, "Mom, they divided the work. Aariz made the breakfast, and Saira made the kheer. It's not a big deal."
Nisha hummed, and they resumed their meal. After a while, Jaffer announced, "Now, let's taste my daughter's hand-made kheer."
Saira, who had already finished her breakfast, stood up to bring the kheer. She returned with a serving dish and served it to Jaffer, waiting anxiously for his reaction.
Jaffer took a bite, his face lighting up with pleasure. "Kya baat hai, beta! This is truly delicious," he declared with a smile.
Saira's face glowed with pride as she served the kheer to everyone else and then sat down.
The table buzzed with praise for her cooking, though Aariz and Nisha remained notably silent.
Ayaaz turned to his mother, sarcasm evident in his voice. "Mom, how's the kheer?"
Nisha savored another spoonful and replied, "Manna padhega. Tumhare hatho mein to jadoo hai."
Saira murmured a grateful thank you. Ayaaz, with a smirk, nudged Aariz. "Oye, grumpy grandpa, how's the kheer?"
Aariz, who was eating the kheer peacefully, glanced up. "Who, me?" he asked.
Ayaaz nodded, and Aariz took another bite, making a few exaggerated expressions.
He began to make a face and said "it was no-"
but was cut off abruptly as Saira, sitting beside him, stomped on his foot. Aariz winced in pain, drawing curious glances from everyone.
With a nervous smile, Aariz stammered, "It-It was ant."
He shot a pointed look at Saira, who was smirking at him and the siblings tried to suppress their laugh.
