Maihark port city.
Nouka and Salt Paw made their way down the docks. The one thing that is on his mind is what will come about from this with everything going. The last thing Nouka needs is another threat or an unknown; he just prayed to the gods that whoever this is is not looking for war.
"Tell me a little more about this ship that you encounter."
"It was huge for one, at the very least three times the size of mine, and made out of metal. I had never seen anything like it; everything about it was just strange. No sails moving somehow from what I can see that not magic in nature and was outfitted with a single cannon at the front. They are not with the Louria Kingdom, or as I can tell any nation around here, the flag they had was not one I had seen before."
"Hmm... I heard tales and stories of such ships in the second civilization region but never seen one in person, and why just one cannon?"
From their understanding, cannons need to be fired in mass to have a chance to do a lot of damage due to how inaccurate they are. He has heard stories of the Parpaldia Empire developing a new type of ship that was based around the ones from the nations in the 2nd civilization region. But he was still inferior to them on several levels yet still outmatched anything within this area, and that seems to have changed from what he saw.
"I don't know, but I had this feeling that a single cannon was more powerful than anything my ship has or any within this area. Beyond what I told you, I don't have much in the way of any other information; you know, I am not one for hiding anything from you."
"I know Salt Paw, but as long as they are holding anything from us, it is not something you or anyone needs to do."
With Louria Kingdom breathing down their necks and could make a move any time to attack, a few on the government think they can talk it out. Yet with the massive buildup of their navy and army and the report of large numbers of wyverns, it was clear they were preparing for war. Thinking about this, the two of them had reached the Salt Paw ship. The Salty Bitch had come down the ramp, and James looked towards the two of them.
"So... you are the guest of Salt Paw."
"The name is James from the European Union. I assume that you have many questions. By chance, can we speak further in some private place? Or shall we head for where you house your diplomats? I would not mind meeting your government now."
"Hmm... It is a pleasure, James. The name is Nouka. I am the commander of the Qua-Toyne Navy and never expected to meet anyone such as yourself today. We can speak in private if you are wise at this time. Get a meeting with the ruler, and our government will be quite hard."
"Why would that be?"
Nouka looked at James, then at Salt Paw.
"I think I can handle this from here. It would be wise to speak with him without anyone else's ears around, if that's alright."
Salt Paw chuckled.
"Sure, this will not be the first time you ask for me to leave you while speaking to another, and I have said all I was wise to say. So, if nothing else, me and my crew will get our duties done here and be moving on, but I'll be back before the day is done."
Bowing his head slightly, he walked past the two of them.
"He is a good man who has helped me and many others, but what is wise for us to say is between us, if that is alright."
James looked towards Salt Paw as he walked up the ramp and back onto the deck of his ship as he walked towards Nouka.
"I can understand that my government has allowed me to speak certain things with you and your government, but something I cannot speak about. And it would be best if only a few of you knew about us at this time, so the fewer people around, the better."
Nouka waved his hand for James to follow him as they both made their way down the docks, scanning the building close to the edge of the dock and the area around them.
"It just keeps getting quitter and quitter around here."
"Might I ask why?"
"With the threat of war, most people have moved away from Maihark for fear that it would be one of the many cities attacked first. And they would not be wrong; this is one of the major ports of Qua-Toyne, and it could very well be under attack soon. I am not sure if Salt Paw told you, but we are under threat by a kingdom to the west, the Louria Kingdom. Things are not looking good, for in truth, they outmatch us in numbers on top of many other problems."
And the most optimistic outcome is that they do drive them back for a little while, but with the massive number of men they have mustered. With all the materials they had built up, there were rumors that they were getting help from the Parpaldia Empire.
"I see. So, why is this Louria Kingdom wanting a war with you? Salt Paw told me a few things, but I would assume that you have more information."
"In truth, it does to the non-human population. From what we can understand, they are very pro-human to the point that they preach for non-humans to be wiped out. It's gotten bad... They already drove out anyone who was not human or anyone who did not agree with them. From there, I heard stories of a few getting killed or worse things as they stood nearing a point of no return. We have tried diplomacy many times, but every time it has failed, and at this point, our diplomatic group is worthless."
"So, words and offers no longer work. We have had a few cases of that happen in our people's history, and we once had a mad man who did what Louria was trying to do. It resulted in the near geocide of everyone in an ethical group within our nation and outside of it."
Nouka stopped along the dock and turned and looked at James, who had stopped in his tracks with him. He had a concerned look on his face.
"You... had someone who was doing what they were wanting to do?"
"Several decades ago, yes, it was a part of our history that neither I nor anyone else wanted to speak about. This does not mean we are like that. Yes, we are humans, and that is a part of our history, as much as we are disgusted with it and would never want it repeated. Trust me, even though you only have my word, we would defend your people, not go with the ones who would preach genocide."
Nouka looked at him for a few seconds before he would turn and make his way back to his office. Taking hold of the handle, he would open the door.
"I will say that this information is not sitting well with me, but at the same time, I can trust your word, and we will discuss a few things."
"I can understand I am not one to trust you as well as your kingdom yet."
Nouka can agree with that, as James walked into this building with Nouka behind him and would shut the door and wave for James to follow him to the office.
And thus, this was the first contact between the two nations.
