It was a rainy afternoon when Mia stumbled upon an old, rusted key while exploring her grandmother's attic. The attic was filled with forgotten treasures: dusty books, antique furniture, and cobweb-covered boxes. But this key was different; it shimmered strangely as if it held a secret. Mia picked up the key taking a closer look while she heard her friend Noe, shuffling around from the bottom of the stairs.

"Uh, Mia.. Can you be a bit faster on finding whatever your grandmother lost-? Time doesn't stop y'know.." he called out to Mia worriedly looking left and right making sure they didn't get caught by his parents. Hearing this, Mia simply scoffed, rolling her eyes as she waved the key around, "Yeah don't be such a worrywart Noe, give me a quick ol' minute.. it's so dusty in here it's like I'm in a desert," Mia coughs bringing the key closer to her face so she could take a closer look at it until she noticed a thin white line of string that glowed ever so slightly in the moonlight, leading somewhere farther into the back of the attic.

The two had been friends ever since Mia and her parents moved in with her. Mia had been specifically close to her mom and when she and Mia's father disappeared, Mia had been dead set on finding the key her mother told her to find even though she didn't know why, she listened because she believed that her mother could somehow see the future. I mean, what is impossible anymore, her family went on a spaceship to live on another planet because some big shot company made it possible, the outside world is unsafe and filled with non human-mind controlling assassins called Pianists that would kill anyone just because of their orders by the same company. Mia thinks they're just being held captive on the planet at this point, and she wants out.

Something tugged on Mia's sleeve causing her to yelp in surprise turning around and seeing a deadpanning Noe.

He placed his hands on his hips raising an expectant brow while looking at Mia, "Did you find anything or are you just playing around?" He asks almost sounding accusing to which Mia cleared her throat awkwardly before speaking, "I swear I'm not messing around again, I'm trying to find something that was stolen from my grandmother which is this pretty key-" she was caught off by Noe putting a hand over her mouth keeping her silent cause he heard someone coming but she accidentally jumped at the gesture. Still holding the key which had a string tied to it, the movement pulled something forward.

It was a porcelain doll with evident curly yellowish hair with a few ribbons tied, a soft-looking face with red dusted cheeks and eyes with a certain glossiness that somehow brought it to life while a fancy kinda lolita-looking white and brown dress enveloped the doll. Right now, this doll had a problem, it was about to fall and make some noise.

Mia quickly leaned over holding up the doll from the shelf keeping it still not letting it move any further as Noe's parents passed by the attic not noticing the two sneaking about. They are handling a gala anyway, Mia and Noe know better than to distract the couple from their job even though they're just 9-year-olds who are still learning about the world.

However; before the two could even react, a crash could be heard from the bottom floor to where the gala full of guests was being hosted, and soon, screams of terror followed. Pianists probably entered the area, and the two friends needed to get out of there now.

Mia grabbed the key and and doll as she was dragged by Noe, immediately getting out of the attic since they couldn't stay there forever.

All they could hear were the screams and rapid footsteps from the gala's floor, and they were at the top of Ann's mansion.

After what seemed like hours of running Mia, Noe, and the doll, finally reached the long stairs of the mansion, "Jeez, these stairs are endless Noe!! How do you even navigate through this stupid house-?" Mia complained as the steps beneath them grunted with every step they took. "I'm pretty sure you've lived long enough with me in this mansion to know that these stairs were never really so... Unusually long..?" Rolling his eyes, Noe continued walking down while holding the doll.

Speaking of the doll, they figured out soon that its name was Tess, and it was the now-possessed-possession of the late far cousin of Noe who also happened to be mysteriously hidden away from other relatives, so no one knew of the existence of Tess besides Tess's family and now her far cousin Noe, and Mia. Despite being such an important family in the family tree of the Ann Family and being as old as the hills outside the mansion, Tess was quite the sassy and full-of-attitude individual.

Back to the story if I may, Mia and Noe finally reached the bottom of the stairs trying to catch their breaths. Of course, that didn't last long as they were immediately faced with 3 pianists.

Information on the pianists, each one's appearance is covered with a dark cloak along with a mask on to hide their face and equipped with 2 rewinders of piano wire that is commonly known to decapitate the pianists' victims and 3 swords attached to their personal.

The question is, how in the world are two 9-year-olds gonna fight 3 well-trained monsters? They're outnumbered.

Mia glanced at Tess who only turned her doll head ever so slightly before taking out a piece of paper where Tess wrote, "Noe" before throwing the piece of paper with such speed and force that it hit one of the Pianists in the eyes area. Noe quickly took action, following Tess's chain of attack, taking out his knife and tackling another one of the Pianists and stabbing its chest revealing a circuit with red and blue wires, Noe looked over to Mia in panic seeing how she was being held captive as she threw the key she was holding this whole time to him. Noe's eyes widened.

"Give me the key," the Pianist holding Mia by her neck demanded in its monotone seemingly robotic-like voice. Noe's head ached with his vision getting blurry until he felt a small force slap his face. He looked around again and saw the same Pianist who was supposedly holding Mia captive, was now on the ground staring at him with lifeless eyes failing to control his mind while Mia was safe with their only chance of escape in her hands.

Tess turned her head to him, even if her usual painted doll face was smiling, he could sense how she was silently judging him. Tess then took out another piece of paper with wrote, "This is gonna happen a few more times, follow along now," she waved the paper in Mia and Noe's faces as if she was warning them. Tess now walked forward towards the entrance door of the mansion expecting them to follow along.

Noe got up from the floor shakily grasping Mia's held-out hand whilst staring at her concerned expression, "Noe? Is there something wrong?" She looked at him worriedly.

He was about to answer but cut himself off contemplating his answer a second time before speaking, "I.. don't-" The ground started to collapse under their feet, and Noe started to run firmly holding Mia's hand as they raced the crumbling bridge to the door of the outside.

Worst case scenario, Noe stumbled a few times before crashing himself onto the front of the door, and another problem occurred, Mia was holding onto his hand for dear life dangling on the edge of the remains of the bridge silently begging him not to let go of her.

Noe's head was already messing with him enough, he was about to let go of her until Tess grabbed Mia's arm, pulling her up.

Tess slapped Noe in the face again, taking out a piece of paper with the words; "Don't let the pianists mess with you, idiot."

The three finally reached the exit, with Mia pushing the key through the keyhole and then twisting it, the door opened.

Mia, who was now carrying the small doll frame of Tess, spoke up in awe, "It's been an awful while since we've been outside, right guys?" The snowy surroundings contrasted with the warm mansion she, Noe, and Tess used to call home.

The three were still at the beginning of the end, the planet still had more to offer for them.
