Episode 9....
FLASH BACK continuess
Over the next few weeks, Ajay couldn't get Abi out of his mind. He started visiting the medical campus under the pretense of participating in the health camps, but really, he just wanted to run into Abi. It didn't take long for them to bump into each other again, and soon, a casual friendship formed.
They began meeting regularly-sometimes for a quick chat after classes, other times for a ice cream at the campus canteen. Ajay's playful, carefree nature contrasted with Abi's seriousness, but it was this contrast that drew them closer. Abi, who had always been focused on her studies and her family's expectations, found herself smiling more and letting her guard down whenever Ajay was around.
The moon hung high in the sky, casting a soft, silver glow over the quiet campus. It was the night of the final cultural fest event, and most of the students were gathered around the main stage, enjoying the performances, music, and fireworks. But Ajay and Abi had slipped away, seeking some quiet time away from the bustling crowd.
They found themselves walking along a small path that led to the old campus garden, a place few students visited at night. The garden, lit by the soft glow of lanterns hanging from the trees, felt almost magical. The fragrance of jasmine and roses filled the air, while the gentle rustle of leaves in the cool night breeze created a soothing backdrop.
Abi walked beside Ajay, her long dupatta flowing softly behind her, while Ajay's hand brushed nervously through his hair. They had grown close over the past few months, a bond that felt effortless, natural. And tonight, Ajay knew it was time to take the next step-though he hadn't quite figured out how he would do it.
As they reached a small clearing, where an old stone bench sat beneath a large banyan tree, Ajay slowed his pace. Abi, sensing something in the air, stopped and looked at him, her soft smile reflected in the gentle moonlight.
'en moonja ipdi ivlo serious ah vachi irukka, thiruvila la kanama pona pulla mathiri' Abi teased, Ajay chuckled shaking his head 'adhelam onnum illa chumma yosichitu irunden..' Ajay said
Abi raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms playfully... 'epo lerndhu sir ivlo lam yosikka arambichinga, deii nee AR songs ah serious ah kekumbodhey doubt vandhuchu.. music director edhavudhu agalam nu mudivu pannitiya sirr adha thanguradhuku ellam yarukum inga shakthi illa pa' Abi said sarcastically...
Ajay laughed nervously, feeling the weight of what he was about to do. His heart was racing, but he knew this was the moment he had been waiting for. He reached into his pocket, fingers brushing against something small and metallic...
Ajay taking a deep breath he said 'Abi... unkita onnu solanum nu nenachitu irukken... and I've been thinking about the right way to do it'... Abi's smile softened, a flicker of curiosity in her eyes.. 'enna Ajay..? You're making me nervous now' Abi said
Ajay took a step closer, feeling his heart pounding in his chest. He looked around the garden-the fairy-tale atmosphere, the moonlight filtering through the trees, the soft glow of the lanterns-it felt like a scene from a dream.
Ajay started 'na unna partha naal la irundhu... well, crashed into you, actually... everything has changed.. na nenachu kooda parthadhu illa that nee en life la ivlo important ana oru part ah maruva nu.. You're smart, you're strong, and you make me laugh like no one else can.'
Abi's smile grew wider, but she remained silent, letting him speak...
Ajay smiling nervously he said 'na indha moment oru nooru vaati yosichi paathu irupen, and every time, I fumble. But I guess that's just who I am-clumsy and awkward, especially when it comes to you...
He took a deep breath and pulled out a small, simple ring from his pocket. It wasn't fancy, not studded with diamonds or extravagant in any way. It was a delicate silver band with a small, shining stone in the center-just like Abi, elegant and understated...
Ajay knelt down, his voice soft but filled with emotion...
'Abi enaku indha padathula vara mari lam solavo... illa pannavo lam varadhuu, All I have is my heart... and my clumsy way of saying this: Will you marry me?' Ajay said
Abi stood there, her heart racing as she looked at Ajay, kneeling before her under the moonlit sky. For a moment, she was too stunned to speak, her eyes locked on the ring and the sincere expression on Ajay's face.
The world seemed to still around them-the distant sounds of laughter and music from the fest faded away, leaving only the sound of the gentle breeze and the rhythm of their breathing.
'Ajay serious ava soldraa' Abi asked
Ajay nodded, his eyes never leaving hers.
'More serious than I've ever been. I love you, Abi. I've loved you since the day I nearly knocked you over in the corridor. En vazhka full ah nee enkooda, ennaku nu irukanum nu nenaikiren, sharing all the small moments, the big dreams, and everything in between.' Ajay said
Abi's eyes filled with tears-not of sadness, but of pure joy. She had never expected this moment to feel so perfect, so simple yet magical in its own way. Ajay, with his goofy charm and unpretentious nature, had somehow turned a quiet night in an old garden into the most beautiful proposal she could have imagined.
'naa readyy' Abi said chuckling through her tears..
Ajay's face lit up, a mix of relief and happiness washing over him. He slipped the ring onto her finger, his hands shaking slightly as he stood up. For a moment, they just stood there, looking at each other, the enormity of the moment settling in...
'paravala, unaku enna epdi surprise pananum nu therinjuruku' Abi laughed softly
Ajay grinned, pulling her into a gentle hug.. 'I'll spend the rest of my life doing that, if you'll let me.'
Abi rested her head on his chest, feeling the warmth of his embrace as the moon continued to shine above them. It wasn't a grand, dramatic proposal like in the movies. There were no crowds, no fancy decorations, no elaborate speeches. But it was perfect. It was simple, beautiful, and most importantly, it was real.
And as they stood together in the quiet of the night, surrounded by the glow of the lanterns and the whispers of the wind, they both knew that this was the beginning of a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and the occasional clumsy stumble.
To be continued...
