However, despite all of that, there has always been one strange anomaly that has existed in this world, one that still, to this point, can't be fully comprehended due to its strange and erratic nature. It is a power system that has the capacity to rewrite this very world and rule over it like a god-a strange system that has changed over time, with its name evolving as well. In the past, it was referred to as gifts; others called it blessings, and some even once labeled it as stigmas before stigmas were deemed a separate system altogether. I, for one, have given it the name of skills.
Skills are strange powers that individuals of this world randomly receive at some point in their lives. They are a special phenomenon activation system that automatically performs supernatural effects or powers inscribed onto a person's soul. Because of their unique nature, they operate under completely different sets of laws, making them very unpredictable and often rule-breaking to the very foundation of the world. This is why it is very difficult to categorize or even try to understand such a system that doesn't have any concrete or fixed rules other than being completely random in their effects and who receives them.
Oftentimes, a person can gain a skill that allows them to change their own race, gain an instant kill move, have the power to mind control someone, or even manipulate the world to suit their own needs and desires.
Yes, that is the very power system that intrigues me the most. Its sheer randomness and unpredictability make it an anomaly to the world itself, I thought. *Man, doesn't that sound like a crazier power system than those in the animes and manga that people often read? Only this time, it's quite literal! No doubt anyone is going to end up jealous of my situation to hear that it actually exists and that they have a chance to get it. Heh heh heh,* I chuckled to myself.
It was then that I realized something: wishes. The actual true purpose of the wishes was to allow the summoned heroes to more easily manifest and acquire those skills in order to defeat the demon king much more efficiently, rather than having to rely on the other systems in this world.
*Well, I guess that kind of makes sense. Aside from magic and arts, there really aren't any other benefits that we could exploit, given that we are from another world. We don't possess any weird or supernatural bloodlines or physics that would be transferred over to this world, only to become instantly OP all of a sudden. So, it makes sense that we should end up acquiring skills instead,* I thought, not really finding any other way for my entire classmates and professors to get strong enough to defeat the demon king. Seeing as how we are from another world, there is very little for us to exploit for more power.
As I was thinking all of this and finishing my little recap of reading all the letters that Seraphina had given me, my legs were starting to get a little tired. All this time, I had only been standing here ever since I found the letter in my pocket. So, I looked over to see where I could sit and found a huge bed that definitely belonged to Seraphina. The bed was enormous-not only that, but it was definitely a queen-size canopy bed. The sheets were big and fluffy, as if made from high-quality fabric just for royalty. Not only were the sheets big and fluffy, but they were also made with very elegant-looking fabric and had intricate designs on them, making it look even more extravagant.
Makoto Fujikawa, who was currently inside of Seraphina's body, a.k.a. the princess, was in deep surprise as he hadn't actually taken the time to examine the room properly. He didn't realize just how expensive everything was inside the room, especially the bed. Just looking at the bed alone made me think, *Damn, just look at how expensive this bed is! It even has designs on the fabric too! Looks soft as hell. I can only imagine how expensive this thing could have been if it was put on sale in our world to the point that I don't even want to think about it,* I thought.
As I was having such thoughts, I sighed and proceeded to touch it, only to realize that the soft-looking fabric was not just for show; it really was very soft to the touch. It made me feel oddly jealous for some reason, even though I wasn't really the type to think about such things. I ignored the softness for now as I just sat on it. Even sitting on it, I could feel how good the softness was, so much so that it was getting very difficult to keep my thoughts in check. All I could think about was the soft bed. No longer capable of holding it back anymore, I quickly jumped onto the bed, completely submerging myself into its cushions and wrapping myself in its blanket, feeling incredibly comfortable and almost nearly falling asleep because of how cozy I felt.
