The Last Storm

The rain was pouring down like a glass as we ran, the sound of our steps echoing in my mind from the puddles, my lungs were burning with every breath I took, but the men coming from behind us were destroying my will to slow down, Ege had noticed this

"If you don't speed up, they will catch you, and I assure you that when they catch you, I won't even try to save you!"

"Shut up and run!"

We were both shouting because of the rain, I couldn't look straight ahead, but Ege was faster than me, he caught me by the wrist and made me increase my speed while he was running, I could hear the gunshots and shouts behind us, we finally left a side street and entered the warehouse of an empty building, we lost our tracks, Ege held on to the wall with one hand and tried to catch his breath, I sat down on the ground and leaned my back against the wall

"Are you okay?"

I glared at Ege

"I could have been better if you hadn't caught us there"

He frowned and spoke angrily, he didn't like my words

"Catch us?  You were so slow, you were going to get us caught while running away!"

"If you had closed the window there like a human being, no one would have noticed us, damn it, don't you know how to close a window!"

"At least I can run fast, you can't do that either, Nova!"

"No, no, no, no, no, no"

I said, imitating him, he shook his head as if begging for patience and sat down on the floor, leaning his back against the wall across from me, and a silence fell

"Did you inform your boss that the job is over?"

He shook his head no, took out his phone and called his boss, after a short phone call, the call was answered

"Boss, we took care of the job, the woman is no longer alive"

Our boss Fuat Yılmaz spoke in an angry voice

"I know, I told you not to get caught, take care of it without anyone knowing, but you caused a stir!?"

Ege and I looked at each other nervously

"It won't happen again, sir"

Ege spoke respectfully, but the boss didn't seem very pleased  it wasn't

"Yes it won't because I'm done with you two kids you're fired good luck with the guys after you"

The phone was off we weren't allowed to say anything ege threw the phone down angrily

"That's all it took, damn it!"

Ege continued his swearing and rebellions I was still in shock from the incident the person we had been working with for 3 years had fired us we had been fired by the person who had made us hitmen and moreover it had happened when we needed protection the most we had killed the woman called Ophia and buried her under the wild roses in the forest this woman was the fiancée of Andrei Vyalitsyn, the most dangerous drug lord in Russia we had gone back and cleaned the scene to make it look like the woman had disappeared but ege had quickly closed the window and managed to break the window and now they thought his fiancée was missing and in our hands but they had seen ege and me we had to go back to our country we couldn't waste time if we couldn't these guys would shoot us my eyes were focused on the ground and I didn't speak ege  he must have noticed this because he sat down next to me and took a deep breath

"Don't worry, I'll handle it somehow"

"How?".

I said without taking my eyes off the ground, I wasn't afraid, we could defend ourselves, we had been trained by Fuat for years for this, but now he had turned his back on us because this time we had hit a solid rock, they had made us partners since we were the same age as Ege in training, but we had ruined every job we had together, Fuat had first cut our salaries, now he had fired us and left us defenseless, he was making sure our scent couldn't be detected with his connections, but it wasn't like this anymore, Ege put his arm around my shoulder and pulled me to him

"You're cold"

I didn't answer, I was cold, but that fire burning inside me was keeping me warm, I was burning with the desire to kill.... Ege held me close to him and tried to keep me warm

"We're leaving Russia without wasting any time tomorrow and we're not coming back to this country"

"How long have you been making decisions on your own?"

Ege replied in a fed up manner

"Please don't start again Nova"

After a while the rain had eased Ege stood up and extended his hand to me I got up from the ground without taking his extended hand he gave me a dirty look but didn't say anything we both left the building in a short time....
