Sweat drips down my cheeks as the kitchen floods with the smell of herbs. My eyes burn, the light in the oven illuminates the rising bread. I hum as my fingers rush over the knives. Grabbing the flat edged knife I begin to slice carrots, placing them into the boiling water. I sing as I stir the soup mixing it slowly without burning the bottom. ' lavender's blue, dilly dilly, lavender's green, when I am King Dilly Dilly you shall... ' My singing stops as my body freezes and my mind is pushed into a strange house. The walls are completely empty in the air around me seems to pulse with energy. It seems to be leading me down the hallway to a dark wooden door at the end. Goosebumps warm on my arms the closer I get. Feeling as if I'm being pulled through the door I take a step. Walking straight through. Coming face to face to a battered and bloodied girl about my age. With a cracking sound a belt meets her arm. The buckle causing a welt to start forming. Without a sound she looks her attacker in the eyes.
Apostrophe you w****, cry so I can hear you ' the man with the belt screams she doesn't flinch as he hits her again.
Apostrophe fine we'll just have to make it so no one can stand the side of you. '
His oddly high-pitched voice seems to echo as he begins to rip her dress The pieces falling to the floor showing her bear curves. Her breast too big for her arms to cover properly. With another hit that marks on her chest become a swirl of black as if trying to brace for impact. The girl continues to sit silently seeming only to anger him more. With every blow he seems too tire. Finally it's as if all his energy has left his body, slumping to the ground. The girl stands brushing her blood so tans through her blue locks. She stands just staring at the man with a scream she falls to her knees. And a split second ink on her body expands reaching from head to toe. With a snapping sound there's a bright light blinding me. When my eye sight returns her body falls to the ground. All I hear is scream as I'm pulled back into my reality. Snapping back to my body the screams continue as I fall to the floor. Santos is there in a flash. His arms wrap around me, shushing me as my mind catches up to my reality. I'm the one screaming not the girl. I saw him to his chest while trying to explain what I just witnessed. The girls lifeless body is burned into my brain.
