"Get away from my girl, you fucker." I grab him by the collar and toss him out of the room, slamming the door shut in his face.

He’s been snuggling up to Heer nonstop, not giving me a moment with her. He needs to learn his place.

How dare he? She’s mine.

A soft, melodious laugh breaks through the air, and I turn to see my sleepy wife leaning against the headboard, amusement dancing in her eyes.

"He’s just a cat, Aman," she says, shaking her head.

"A cat who’s stealing my place and your attention," I grumble, climbing into bed beside her.

We brought Snuggles home after saying goodbye to Anne and her apartment, and ever since, the little menace has been competing with me for Heer’s love.

She pulls me into a hug, and I run my fingers through her messy hair.

A yawn escapes her lips. "What time is it?" she asks.

"Almost nine," I reply.

Her eyes widen, and she scrambles off the bed, grabbing her long pajamas and trying to fix her hair.

"Why didn’t you wake me up?" she asks, tying her hair into a low ponytail as I watch her every movement, savoring her presence like it’s the first time.

"You looked so peaceful. I didn’t want to disturb you," I explain.

"Today’s the day, Aman!" she exclaims, throwing her arms up. "We’re supposed to ask Ved for permission. What if he doesn’t want to come with us because we’re late? How can we be so careless?" Panic flickers in her voice.

I sigh. This is important to her, and I need to tread carefully.

"Listen, Ma’s already given her blessing, and everyone at home is excited to welcome him into the family. We’ll convince him too," I reassure her, cupping her cheeks. "Besides, he looks at you like you hung the moon. Don’t worry too much, sweetheart." I lift the corners of her lips with my fingers, forcing her to smile.

"Okay," she breathes out, leaning her forehead against my chest.

Then she looks up, her smile warm and full of love. "Thank you. You’re the best."

"Tell me something I don’t know," I tease with a grin.

She chuckles and presses a kiss to my cheek. Before I can ask for a proper kiss, she darts into the washroom.
