The blinding sunlight shines through the window to wake me up. I slowly get up off the couch to stretch then walk to the kitchen to make me a cup of coffee. I hold the hot mug in my hands as I look out the window to the backyard. My eyes fall upon the tall, long wooden fence surrounding the grass. My mind immediately goes to the wolf I saw the night before in the woods.

What if there are more just like him? Are they friendly? Why did he help me get home in the first place? Why didn't he just attack me?

Thinking of the wolf, I am reminded that I promised him I would visit the woods again.

Hmmm maybe it is finally time to get rid of the fence? After all, I am much older and more aware of what my actions are now.

I grab the phone off the counter and call my friend who has a job in construction.

"Hey Todd, it's Davina. I was wondering if you were busy today. I might have a job for you if you're interested."

"Hey, yeah I am just finishing up a job now. What is it you need me to do?"

"I have this wooden fence in my backyard that I was thinking of getting it torn down but only the back part by the woods. I want to leave the sides up to keep my neighbors eyes out of my yard if possible. You think you and your guys can manage that?"

"Yeah, my guys and I can get it done. Will tomorrow work for you?"

"I will be at auditions all day but yeah, you guys can go ahead and start on it."

"Okay we will see you then."

"Thank you, see you tomorrow."

I hang up the phone smiling, knowing my mother will not approve of the fence being torn down at all. After washing my mug out, I go upstairs to change into jeans and a blue t-shirt. I then grab my jacket and head outside. Luckily there is no one around so I have no problem tip toeing around the big fence in the neighbors yard to escape to the woods behind my house. I stare at the opening of the woods, contemplating my decision to come back out here. I am just thinking of turning around to leave and go back inside when a piercing howl fills the air around me. I stop in my tracks.

The hair on my neck stands up as I slowly turn my head to look back at the shadowy forest. Bright glowing eyes stare out of the timber to awake my very soul. The majestic golden eyes come closer as a light brown wolf slowly stalks toward me growling. Losing my strength, I try to take a step back and end up tripping to fall on my bottom. Holding back my screams, I realize the wolf has stopped growling and walking toward me. I try to catch my breath as my thoughts begin to run wild.

Is he going to attack me? Is he friends with the other gray wolf? Does that mean he is nice or not? Wait, why did he stop suddenly?

Something must have caught the new wolf's attention because he slowly backs off away from me to sit down at the edge of the dreary woods. My eyes follow the direction he is looking to notice the wolf from the other night appear. The gray wolf growls at the light brown one, who looks down at the ground then takes off back into the trees.

My eyes stay locked on the grayish wolf, waiting for him to make a sudden move. As he begins to stroll toward me, my body becomes stiff-like. I sigh in relief as he lays beside me and nuzzles my leg with his head. I reach out to pet his surprisingly soft fur.

"I promise I am not here to hurt you. I just want to know more about you."

What am I doing? How can this wolf even understand anything that I am saying to him? He seemed to before but he may not now. Maybe talking to him could help me get everything off my chest though.

As I keep petting him, I begin to talk about my first experience with the woods and the rest of my drama filled life. In the middle of discussing how much I do not care for Kyle, I notice the sun has gone down.

I frown at my new wolf friend, "I have to go back but I will see you again."

The gray wolf stands up and faces the trees.

"By the way, I was going to tear down the entire fence at first but I think I will just leave an opening in case you would like to visit me again in my backyard. Then none of the neighbors will see you in my yard if you do visit again."

I smile as he shakes his head then takes off into the woods. Picking myself up, I walk back to the house and grab my phone to text Todd. I make sure to explain once again that I want a fence to keep neighbors out of sight for my backyard but still open to the woods. Hoping he gets my idea I lay the phone down then climb the stairs to go to bed.
