Jungkook had grown accustomed to the revolving door of bodyguards. It was almost routine by now—someone would come in, stay for a few days, and then vanish, their contract terminated either by choice or, worse, by something far more sinister. The constant threat of the stalker loomed over him, and no matter how many people tried to protect him, they always ended up being a target.

He hated the feeling of helplessness. Every new hire came with a glimmer of hope, only to be snuffed out by another horrifying message, another twisted photo, or worse, the news that they’d been found dead.

That’s why, when Jimin announced he’d found someone new, Jungkook couldn’t bring himself to be excited. He had heard it all before.

Jungkook stood in front of the mirror, trying to straighten his shirt. His hands trembled slightly, a mix of nerves and exhaustion weighing on him. The stalker’s latest message had left him shaken:

*“I’m getting closer, Jungkook. You’ll be mine soon enough.”*

His mind replayed the words as if they were burned into his memory. He didn’t understand how the stalker always seemed one step ahead, no matter how many precautions were taken.

A knock on the door snapped him out of his thoughts. Jimin stepped into the room, looking serious.

“He’s here,” Jimin said, his tone low but reassuring.

Jungkook let out a sigh. “Let’s get this over with.”

As they walked toward the living room, Jungkook couldn't shake the anxiety gnawing at him. He wasn’t ready for another disappointment.

When they entered the room, Jungkook’s eyes landed on the man standing near the door. He was tall, with broad shoulders and a quiet confidence that radiated off of him. His black hair was slightly tousled, and his dark eyes scanned the room before they settled on Jungkook.

“Jungkook, this is Kim Taehyung,” Jimin introduced. “He comes highly recommended. He’s specialized in cases where things… get personal.”

Taehyung stepped forward, extending his hand. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Jeon,” he said, his voice deep and steady.

Jungkook hesitated for a moment, then took his hand. The grip was firm, but what struck Jungkook was the coldness of his touch—something unsettling, something he couldn’t place. There was something about Taehyung’s eyes that unnerved him, though he couldn’t pinpoint why. They were intense, as if he were seeing through him.

“I’ll be in charge of your protection from now on,” Taehyung said. “You don’t have to worry about anything.”

Jungkook nodded, trying to ignore the strange feeling twisting in his gut. “I hope you’re right.”

Jimin clapped his hands together. “Well, I’ll leave you two to discuss the details. Taehyung will stay close, but not too invasive. He’s the best we’ve got, Kook. Trust him.”

After Jimin left the room, the silence stretched between them. Taehyung’s eyes were still on Jungkook, studying him. It made his skin crawl, though he tried to dismiss it as nervousness.

“I know this is difficult,” Taehyung began, his voice softer now, almost soothing. “But I need you to understand that my job is to keep you safe. I’ll be watching everything, everywhere you go. I don’t intend to be in your way, but you won’t be alone for a moment. Is that understood?”

Jungkook nodded slowly, feeling the weight of the words. He wasn’t sure whether to be comforted or more terrified by the idea of always being watched, even if it was by his own bodyguard.

As the day went on, Taehyung remained in the background, always a few steps behind Jungkook. He was quiet, almost too quiet, like a shadow that Jungkook couldn’t shake. Yet, there was something about his presence that unnerved him even more than the stalker’s messages.

*Later That Night*

Jungkook sat in his living room, the lights dimmed, as he scrolled through his phone. The uneasiness from earlier hadn’t left him. He was trying to distract himself, but the silence of the house made it impossible. Somewhere outside, Taehyung was stationed, keeping watch over the property. Despite that, Jungkook couldn’t shake the sense that something was still terribly wrong.

His phone buzzed in his hand, making him jump.

Another message.

*“So, you’ve got a new guard dog. How cute. But you should know by now, Jungkook, no one can keep you safe from me. I see you. I’ll always see you. I’m so close to finally having you, feeling you, tasting you. He can’t stop me.”*

Jungkook’s breath hitched. His hands trembled as he read the words. The air in the room felt colder, heavier, and his heart raced in his chest.

He looked around, feeling a sudden wave of paranoia. The message was so explicit, so personal, it made his skin crawl. It felt as though the stalker was right there in the room with him, watching.

Jungkook’s first instinct was to run to the door and call Taehyung, but a part of him hesitated. Could anyone really protect him from this person? How could the stalker be so close, so confident?

The door creaked open slightly, and Jungkook jumped, but it was only Taehyung. His tall frame filled the doorway as he stepped into the room.

“You’re shaking,” Taehyung said, his voice low as he approached. “What happened?”

Jungkook handed him the phone, unable to find his voice. Taehyung took it, his expression darkening as he read the message.

“Don’t worry,” Taehyung said, his voice softer now, almost too calm. “They won’t touch you.”

Jungkook shivered, not from fear of the stalker but from the strange intensity in Taehyung’s voice. There was something almost possessive in the way he said it, as if the threat wasn’t just about protection but something more.

“I’m going to find out who’s doing this,” Taehyung added, his eyes locking onto Jungkook’s. “And when I do, they’ll regret ever coming near you.”

Jungkook nodded, trying to find reassurance in Taehyung’s words, but the strange feeling gnawing at him wouldn’t go away.
