An: Yeah, I don't know what to say fr.
Bella
I wiped the sweat off my brow, a proud sigh leaving my mouth as I stared at my hand working. There really is nothing more satisfying than a hard day at work.
“I think you're right Bella, the roses would do much better in the lower right quadrant of the garden.” Esme hummed, a satisfied smile growing on her face. It had only taken an hour to carefully rehome her roses.
“I didn't think it was possible but they were getting a bit too much sun.” I mumbled, caressing one of the petals gently.
“Will you stay for lunch, dear? I have this salad I've been dying to try out. I bought this black berry goat cheese from the farmers market and I think it will pair lovely wit-” Esme started, her eyes lighting up a bit at the mention of the new product.
A sudden figure stood over me, blocking the sun from my eyes which was really nice for a second.
Until I realized who's shadow it was. I would recognize that shadow anywhere. Even though now that baby fat has refined it to lovely curves that I just wasn't to dig my teeth into.
“Afternoon Alice, you're up early.” I greeted, glancing up at the goddess of of woman in front of me.
She doesn't look happy. At all.
“Mars.” Was the curt response I got in return.
“Good morning Alice! Are you hungry dear?” Esme greeted, a wide smile spreading onto her face. Alice has always been her baby girl. I know she's always wanted a little girl and it showed.
Spoiling Alice rotten whenever she would come to spend the summers.
“Good morning Auntie, could you possible hold off on lunch? Bella and I have some unfinished business to attend to.” Alice responded, never taking her golden gaze off of me.
I used to dream of all things yellow. Honey, bees, lightning, sunshine, sunflowers, lemons, treasure.
“I'd say. I'm glad the two of you are on speaking terms again.” Esme states, wiping her hands off on a nearby rag.
“I wouldn't say that.” I mumbled, standing up. Wiping my hands on my dusty old overalls.
“How may I be of service on this lovely Sunday afternoo-” I started to ask but Alice threw a large book back into my arms. Which surely would have knocked me over if I was human. But I wasn't.
Two shovels and a map?
“You are coming with me to this location. And then we are going to dig.” Alice explained as if that's all that needed to be said.
She didn't bother asking. She never asked before, why would she start now? She always makes it seem like you don't really have a choice in the matter.
‘I'm gonna marry you.
I glanced down at the map, sucking my teeth when I saw the location in question.
“No can do. You'll have to find someone else to dig up whatever you've got there.” I state and Alice narrowed her eyes at me.
“Why?” Alice asked, like I needed a reason to tell her no. My eye eyebrow twitched and it was like I was lost in the storm again for a moment.
Running through the forest, an unresponsive Alice in my arms as I ran as fast as I could. I thought the sky was falling around us.
“Because I won't go there. Not for you, not for anyone.” I mumbled, stepping past Esme to try and get into the house.
