Nandita sat at her desk, staring at her laptop screen. Her fingers hovered over the keyboard, hesitating before she finally typed into a popular online forum dedicated to unexplained phenomena. It was a far cry from her usual haunts of medical journals and research databases, but the visions had left her desperate for answers.
She hit "Post," and her message went live:
"Has anyone experienced vivid visions that seem too real? I'm a neurologist, so I know all about hallucinations and mental conditions, but this feels... different. It's not like anything I've ever studied. They don't make me tired, and I feel strangely invigorated afterward. Could it be something else? Any insights appreciated."
Nandita sighed and leaned back, expecting ridicule or silence. The forum was infamous for trolls, conspiracy theorists, and armchair experts who would leap at the chance to mock a professional asking for advice on what they'd consider 'woo-woo nonsense.' She refreshed the page and, unsurprisingly, saw the expected wave of dismissive responses.
User1: "LOL a neurologist asking about visions? Are you sure you're not the patient here?"
User2: "Maybe you're just working too hard. Ever heard of sleep?"
User3: "Visions? Get real. Try a vacation, doc."
Nandita scrolled past the jeering comments, shaking her head. Just as she was about to log off, one reply caught her eye:
CodeBreaker23: "I've been seeing things too, and I know it sounds crazy, but it feels real. Not exhausting, just... empowering. Almost like there's something we're supposed to do with these visions. I don't know if that helps, but you're not alone."
The username tugged at Nandita's memory, something familiar about it. She quickly clicked on the profile but found it sparse—no identifying information, just a handful of posts, mostly about technology and personal experiences with the supernatural.
Her heart raced as she typed a response:
NanditaN: "Thank you for sharing. Can we talk more about this? I'm struggling to understand what's happening."
Almost immediately, a reply appeared:
CodeBreaker23: "Sure. DM me."
Nandita clicked on the direct message icon and began typing, her fingers moving quickly across the keyboard.
From Sudeep's Perspective:
Sudeep sat in the cramped corner of his cluttered office, his laptop open to the same forum he had visited countless times over the past few weeks. He was still reeling from the last vision, the intensity of which left him rattled but oddly energized. His fingers tapped anxiously against the keyboard as he refreshed the page, skimming through the posts that filled the screen.
For days, he had been searching for answers, sifting through countless threads where others shared their experiences with the bizarre and unexplainable. Most of the posts were unhelpful—people claiming to see ghosts, encounter aliens, or have prophetic dreams that led nowhere. But today, a new post caught his attention.
Sudeep's heart quickened. Finally, someone who understood. He quickly typed his response:
CodeBreaker23: "I've been seeing things too, and I know it sounds crazy, but it feels real. Not exhausting, just... empowering. Almost like there's something we're supposed to do with these visions. I don't know if that helps, but you're not alone."
