Your mother was scurrying around the house, cleaning the most random spots she could think of and fluffing each pillow at least five times. The student staying with you would be arriving that day, exactly a week before school started. You and Suzume were trying to calm your mother's nerves but to no avail.

"Ma, calm down! This kid ain't gonna bite ya," you tried to reassure your mother.

Unsurprisingly, Fumiko was at your home as well. She was trying to reassure your mother too but nothing seemed to work. Suzume officially gave up and waited outside for your father and the student to arrive. When you heard your car pull up in the driveway, you mentally prepared yourself to socialise with a stranger—one you'd be living with for three years. Oh my god, you'd be living with a stranger for three years.

You had no time to panic as you could hear your father approaching the front door. Suzume was as loud as ever, talking about the chaos you'd had to endure while waiting for him to come home. (Your father volunteered to drive the student from the train station to your house to avoid said chaos.) The door flung open and your father was the first to appear. He said his greetings to Fumiko before carrying a few boxes and luggages to the guest bedroom.

You fiddled with your fingers as you waited for the student to appear. Suzume followed behind your father, head facing behind her as she introduced herself to an unknown person. Your hands fell to your side when you saw who she was talking to—a tall, lanky, black-haired guy with snake-like eyes. He was incredibly handsome.

You almost choked on your own saliva when your eyes landed on him. Your mother did not mention that the person staying with you would be a guy. A really cute guy. You hurried over to him and introduced yourself, hoping to leave a good impression.

"Hi, I am Suna Rintarou, nice to meet you. Please take care of me."

His tone was extremely formal, which disappointed you (but he was respectful). He also lacked the Kansai dialect, which was unfamiliar to you. It was rare for you to talk to someone who conversed in proper Japanese, especially in Hyogo where most, if not all, were locals.

Suna didn't seem to be talkative, simply saying an introduction and bowing to everyone. You shot a look at your sister which said 'we need to debrief ASAP', and she nodded once in agreement.

"Ah, I better tell the boys t'come over for dinner! Then, everyone can be friends!" Fumiko exclaimed excitedly, clapping her hands once before exiting your home.

Suna stood awkwardly in your living room, scanning the room and taking in the new environment. Your mother immediately walked Suna to his room, urging him to settle down and make himself feel at home. He had no other choice, you coughed. As soon as your mother and Suna were out of sight, you grabbed Suzume's hand and dragged her to your room.

"I can't believe Ma didn't tell us the student was a boy! A cute one!" you whined, fingers massaging your scalp to calm yourself down.

"Tch, and I didn't wash my hair today. I looked like ass."

Suzume folded her arms, rolling her eyes. She told you she had to go and get ready before the Miyas came. She had to make sure Atsumu didn't get his hands on the good cuts of meat your mother had prepared.

You clicked your tongue, shooing her out of your room.

Re: Surprise

Tsumu and I did somethin' today, don't shit yer pants when ya see us. (◞‿◟)

You've changed from your pyjamas into a pair of sweat-shorts and a plain black tee. The Miyas would be coming anytime soon and you felt the sudden urge to look presentable.
