It was the week before school starts, every summer my family goes to our lake house which doesn't mess with our schedule since both of my parents work from home. My older sister is always helping my mom clean and cook, and when she's not, she's sitting by the lake while texting her friends. And my younger brother is always playing games on his Xbox. So that means I'm the middle child, my parents love me but they are busy taking care of my brother and working, and my older sister is always out of the house, partying or at college, so I can get away with anything I want since they won't notice. I don't really do anything since I don't have any friends, I use to have a lot of friends when I was in elementary but there was this one friend, Max, he was my best friend.
I went outside to find Julie, My older sister, to ask her a question.
"Hey Julie?"
"Ugh, hold on." She said as she covered her phone so her friends wouldn't hear her talk to me since everyone believes she's a sweet angel that treats everyone with respect and kindness, and that she loves her family. "What do you want Kara?"
"Have you seen my medicine, it's time for me to take it"
"I don't know Kara! Why would I know?"
I let out a sigh before I looked around. "Well do you know where my emergency bag is?"
"It's somewhere in the kitchen. Now can you leave me alone!" She started to talk with her friends again. I mumbled a fine before I walked inside, I ran to the kitchen as my sight started to get a headache, it was starting. I found my emergency bag and I started to look around for the bright orange and red bottle, I didn't find it so I ran to my mom's room as my vision started to blur.
"Mama.. have you- have you seen my- my pills.. I can't find- find them.. I've already search- searched the emergency bag- and I've asked Julie and-"
"Baby, breathe. They're right here" She interrupted me to say as she handed my pills, she dropped a pill in my mouth and handed me her water bottle. I grabbed the water bottle and took a drink and swallowed, after a few seconds my vision cleared up, the headache went away, and my throat stopped closing up and opened up, after I caught my breath I hug her tight.
"Mama, when do we head back to the city?"
"We have to go by your grandparents so we have to leave tomorrow morning."
"So I should start packing?"
"Yeah, also what do you want for dinner?"
I start to walk away to go pack and then I stop to think, tonight is Julie's turn to cook and since she was being so mean earlier I decided that I should maybe her cook the one thing she hates the most.
"Sushi" I said as I walked out with a smile on my face.
