I looked in the mirror. Oh fantastic! My hair looks like shit. For as short as it is I have to give it some credit for being this messy. My hairbrush sits patiently, almost begging me to use it. Good luck.
After I pretty much pulled half of my hair out I brush my teeth and head downstairs. It was cold in my house, that's usually weird because there are five people living here, you'd think it would heat up just a bit.
Speaking of family, this is day 6 of me being openly lesbian to my immediate family. I guess they have taking really well. They just kind of dismissed it and been really sensitive about the subject. I am the only LGBT my family has had for generations so no one really knew how to deal. Also we are heavily Christian so, you never know.
As I finish clambering down the stairs I smell breakfast. Bacon and eggs, aw yes. Turning into the kitchen I find my Mom and my Dad seated at the kitchen table. My Dad was looking worries toward the computer and my Mom sits patiently behind his shoulder. It was a strange scene, almost like they put all their money into a raffle and they're awaiting the winner. Gosh let's hope not.
"Uh, mom? Dad?" I question stepping out to make myself visible.
Their heads snapped to the direction of my voice, the look of worry still prominent. "Jane! Uh good morning!" My mom spats getting from her chair. She wraps her arms around me in a dangerously tight hug.
"Morning?" I question, "You guys okay?" Dad finally pries his eyes from the computer to watch me get my milk from the fridge.
"About that, please come sit." My dad replies. Oh my no. What are they going to do? Hopefully they haven't looked at my recent search history, anything but that. I take a seat next to my dad and get a full view of the computer. It reads across the top in Times New Roman, 'LGBT Correctional Boot Camp'.
"What the hell?" I yell.
"Honey, you know we are a very Christian family and-" My Mom starts.
"This is bullshit! You can't do this! It's, Its, stupid!" I scream getting up from my chair. My parents try to grab my hand to pull me back down but I refuse. "have you signed me up already?"
My Dad slowly nods biting his lip. How dare they! You can't do that! I am who I am, just ugh! "The bus leaves tonight, so please pack your things, and stop yelling so many profanities." My dad sighs.
"Oh you want to hear profanities? I'll show you profanities!" I yell and start to advance but my mom stops me.
"Jane! We already signed you up so please go pack up." She states calmly. "it's for the whole summer, so be prepared." She sighs then sits down next to my dad.
I couldn't even register anything so I just scream and run upstairs, shutting my door forcefully. A whole ducking summer? I'll kill myself while I'm there! Collapsing on my bed my little sister, Lauren, walks in and sits next to me.
Lauren was adopted but looks so much like my mom she fits right in. She knows she's adopted and she wouldn't talk to us for days when she found out. She didn't even come out of her room, but we were all pretty sure she had a secret supply of snacks in there.
Lauren slowly puts her hand on my back. Being only a bit younger than me were really close, and she knew I was gay long before anyone else.
"I'm so sorry, I heard what happened, that's so crappy of them." Lauren sighs and pulls her hand away.
"Thanks Lauren." i wheeze between sniffles. Not only is this a terrible but, the entire summer! A whole summer of me being treated like satan, great.

I was in the car, on my way to the bus stop. It was very short notice of them, but if they gave me any longer I probably would have burned the house down. But it was barely enough time for me to text all my friends about it. Let alone all of the social media accounts I have. They'll be ranting for weeks on end! I hope.
