A/N: Heyo, sorry that this chapter took a little longer. Writers block has been beating my ass and I've been super unmotivated to write because of that. Anyway, enjoy.

Winter has arrived, we only have a week left before winter break starts, and both the students and the staff are all growing impatient waiting for it to begin.
As I'm getting dressed, I take a look outside. The ground is covered with a heavy blanket of snow and icicles of varying sizes hang from the bare tree branches. I can faintly hear a plow truck pass by outside. It's crazy, we got almost a foot of snow last night, which back home would've guaranteed a day off. Seems that's not the case here in Pennsylvania, where they've sent the plow trucks out super early and salted the roads so the buses can drive. Oh well, at least we got a two hour delay.
The break's not the only thing coming up: Mom and Stephen's wedding is next week too. An event that a couple months ago, I was honestly dreading. But now, I'm actually kind of looking forward to it.
I pull on my combat boots, grab my backpack and head downstairs. The smell of coffee lingers in the kitchen, but no one's in the room. I look outside, Stephen's shoveling the driveway and both of the dogs are out there with him, chasing after each other through the snow. Is Mom still asleep? Usually she's the first one awake. Hmm, maybe she's just getting ready for work?
My guess turns out to be correct, because just as I sit down at the table with my toast, I hear the thump of her boots coming down the stairs. She still looks tired, but smiles at me as she walks in.
"Morning." She says, pouring herself a cup of coffee and sitting down in the chair opposite me.
"Morning." I reply, giving her a small smile. "You okay?"
She sighs and rubs her face. "Yeah. Just rushing to get everything done for the wedding. I swear, as soon as we finish one thing, something new comes up. And we still haven't gotten all the RSVP's back."
The guests are the main thing she's been worried about. The wedding's not going to be very big: close family, a few of Mom's friends and a few of Stephen's friends. Still, she wants everything to be perfect.
"Oh, that's what I wanted to ask you." She says suddenly. "We still have room for one more guest, and I wanted to know if there was anyone you wanted to bring."
I pause for a moment. Of course, I have an idea. Max, obviously. I still haven't told her, I guess now's the best time.
"Yeah. You know my friend Max?" She nods. They haven't met, obviously, but I've brought him up in conversation before. "I can ask him if he'd wanna come. Also...uh...we're dating, he's my boyfriend."
She lets out a small, excited gasp, her eyes lighting up. "Really? Oh, that's great, Damon!" She leans back in the chair and starts laughing. "I'll be honest, I had a feeling something might've been going on. You talk about that boy so much."
I roll my eyes and smile at her. "I don't talk about him that much!" I protest, but the look Mom gives me tells me she doesn't believe me. Okay, maybe she's right, maybe I do bring him up a bit more than I'd like to admit.
"You know I'm just playing around." She stands up and walks over to place her mug in the sink. "He's more than welcome to join us if he can. From what you've said, he sounds like a sweet boy, I'm excited to meet him." She grabs her purse and her coat from where it's hanging near the front door. "I'm heading out now, you should too. I don't want you to be late, even with this delay. See you later."
I wave goodbye to her as she heads outside. I glance at the stove clock. 8:31, the green digital numbers display. Time to head out. Finishing my toast, I hoist my backpack over my shoulders and head towards the front door. Just as I open the door, Ozzy and Maverick come rushing inside, panting heavily. Ozzy's somehow clean, only a few small specks of snow clinging to his brown fur. Maverick, on the other hand, has clumps of snow clinging to her tan and black fur. She shakes herself, the snow flinging around the entryway.
