Ella's eyes never left Lumos's face as she approached him. There was something about his intense gaze that drew her in, like a magnet. She felt like she was drowning in the depths of his eyes, and yet, she couldn't look away.
"I'm a writer," she said, trying to sound casual despite her racing heart. "I couldn't help but feel like your art is telling a story."
Lumos raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What kind of story?"
Ella hesitated, unsure how to put into words the emotions his art evoked. "A story of pain and beauty, of light and darkness. It's like you're trying to convey the complexity of the human experience."
Lumos's expression softened, his guard dropping for a moment. "You see that, huh?"
Ella nodded, sensing a vulnerability behind his rough exterior. "Yes, I do. Your art is like a reflection of the soul. It's raw, honest, and hauntingly beautiful."
Lumos looked away, his eyes clouding over. "I just paint what I feel," he muttered.
Ella took a step closer, her voice barely above a whisper. "That's what makes it so powerful. You're not just creating art; you're sharing a part of yourself."
Their conversation flowed effortlessly, like they'd known each other for years. Lumos found himself opening up to Ella in ways he never had with anyone before. He told her about his passion for art, his fears, and his dreams.
As they talked, Ella noticed the scars on Lumos's hands, the way his eyes clouded over when he spoke of his past. She sensed a deep pain, one he kept hidden beneath his tough exterior.
"I should go," Ella said finally, reluctant to break the connection.
Lumos nodded, his mask slipping back into place. "Yeah, I should get back to work."
But as Ella turned to leave, Lumos called out, his voice low and rough. "Hey, Ella?"
She turned back, her heart skipping a beat. "Yeah?"
Lumos's eyes locked onto hers, a glimmer of vulnerability shining through. "Thanks for seeing me."
